Critical information for the coming week at West End!
Open House
We look forward to seeing you on Thursday!
Schoology Access Codes for Parents
Student assignments and activities are posted in our Learning Management System, Schoology. All parents and Guardians can access their student's data by setting up a parent account. All you need is your individual code. Please e-mail James.Stephensiii@mnps.org from your registered e-mail account and he will reply with your Schoology Access code. Since it's long and burdensome to type in, this cut and paste method is much easier to manage.
Campus Portal for Parents
Parents and Guardians can also access The Campus Portal for Infinite Campus as well. Campus is our Student Management System that has attendance, schedules, assessment, contact information, behavior logs and more. Just like with Schoology, you have an individual Parent code. Please e-mail James.Stephensiii@mnps.org from your registered e-mail account and he will reply with your Schoology Access code.
Check out Campus Portal information on this link: Campus Portal.
Day of Discovery 22-23
Day of Discovery will start the first week after Labor Day and selected students in the 7th and 8th grade who applied last Spring will go on Tuesdays from 9:30am-1:00pm.
They are still making decisions on the applicants and producing a wait list for any students that we don’t have room in the class for. If students that were enrolled last year elect not to return, then they will invite students from the wait list to join the class during our 2nd week.
Auditions for Alice
FIANL Auditions, Wednesday August 24th 4:-00p - 5:30p
Cold read auditions
Rehearsals on Wednesdays from 4-5
If students are in sports for the fall, attending rehearsals will be difficult due to Wednesday game schedules. Check with your prior commitments before auditioning.
Cost $125 (Please talk with someone if this is a barrier to participation)
For more information e-mail: hello@nashvillecreativehouse.com
Lunch Policy
Policy update: Since, we provide free breakfast and lunch for all students you do not need to send your student with food. However, you are more than welcome to send items for your individual student to eat before they arrive. We do not allow them to share food at lunch due to allergy concerns.
If you wish to send them any food during the school day, then please stay with them during that time and enjoy lunch as a family. We will not receive nor deliver food for your student during the middle of the day. This creates a disruption and staffing issue. Only family members on the approved list in Infinite Campus will be allowed to bring food and remain in the building.
Thank you for supporting your students. We look forward to seeing you come and eat with your student.

West End Student Government
Representation is important for every community. At West End, we have a Student Council that works with teachers, staff, and community members to ensure every student has a voice in the school. Student Council will meet monthly to work with school staff to improve the student experience.
We will elect our representatives through a series of steps. First, the Executive Branch will be elected. This includes the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Grade Level Governors. Then the House of Commons will be elected which will have one representative from every Nestbuilder class.
Every candidate for the Executive Branch of government must submit an intent to run form the week prior to elections. Forms will be available in the front office and through Nestbuilder teachers. All forms are due to the front office or Nestbuilder teacher EXTENDED to Monday the 22nd, and must be approved prior to running campaigns. Elections will occur on August 25th.
Executive Branch:
President (8th grader only)
Vice President (7th or 8th grader)
Secretary (7th grader only)
Treasurer (6th grader only)
8th Grade Governor
7th Grade Governor
6th Grade Governor
For any question about Student Council, please e-mail Dr. Gill the Student Council Advisor Jonathan.Gill@mnps.org
Club Interest Survey
Clubs are a perfect way to connect with like-minded individuals. We will try to offer a selection of clubs that allows everyone to have at least one connection to an extracurricular.
Students and Parents,
Please let us know if there is a club that you would like us to offer at West End Middle School. Administration will be checking this form through the first month of school to try and pair students with fun activities for them to explore.
Adults,
If you have an interest that you would like to share with the community, please send a message to our Dean of Instruction, Adam Warner, Adam.Warner@mnps.org
Thank you,
---Trey Stephens
Galapagos Islands Trip
Mr. Strong is organizing an absolutely epic adventure to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands! The itinerary of this trip will blow your mind. You can find all the details on Mr. Strong's Epic Galapagos Trip Homepage. The trip will take place during spring break in March, 2023, and is open to all West End students AND their families! Space is not limited, but time definitely is. If you're interested in this opportunity, contact Mr. Strong soon. Sign your kid up! Or go with them and have a truly unbelievable bonding experience. Travel is one of the most powerful educational experiences a person can have, and this is especially true for children. Children who travel tend to be more educated, more grounded, more empathetic, and better global citizens. (The truth is it works on adults too). Don't miss this opportunity! Join today!

If you are not interested, please return the materials to the school so everything can all be accounted for.
If we meet our schoolwide goal of an average of 2 books per student, then Mr. Stephens may have to learn how to ride a dinosaur.
