Thank You for Your Continued Support!
Thank you for all the support many of you have given Denton Elementary School during the 2022 school year. As we look to the coming school year, I hope that you will continue to work with your child over the summer to help maintain their skills.
If your student has medication in the health room, it will need to be picked up by 12:00 pm on Friday, June 17th, otherwise it will be discarded. Remember, we cannot send medication home with a student. If your child is attending the summer program, you may leave the medication here until the conclusion of that program.
All student devices will be kept at DES for the remainder of the school year. An inventory will be taken and if all components are not returned, you will be billed.
The 2023 calendar is included in this newsletter to help you begin to plan. Class supply lists will be posted in early July and will be shared with local businesses.
We will be sending home summer Raising a Reader book bags with our PreK, Kindergarten and first grade students next week. Please use the books as summer practice with your child. The books and book bag do not need to be returned; you may keep them to share with others. Title I funds were used to support this summer reading project.
Things to work on this summer:
• Read! Read a wide variety of books to keep up with fluency gains that your child has made.
• Continue to practice math fact fluency. Math fluency games have been shared and posted on the Denton ES webpage.
• Practice opening fruit cups, Lunchables, and other items that students may bring to lunch. Stress cleaning up ones' own mess when eating.
• Our Dolphins love to eat fruit! Continue to offer a variety of fresh fruit with meals.
• Establish and keep routines. Stay with a set bedtime and time to wake up each day.
• Continue to stress the importance of exercise and activity. Rehearse breathing strategies when your child is frustrated.
Beginning the week of June 24, 2022, the DES office will be open from 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM, Monday through Thursday.
Enjoy your summer!
