Dear Falcon Community,

It feels good to have completed a full week with our students! I appreciate everyone's hard work on their course work and on the iReady diagnostic assessment. If your student hasn't completed this, they should keep working on it between 8:45 and 9:15 on school days. As a reminder, Monday 9/7 is Labor Day and there is no school or school work this day. Have a wonderful long weekend!

Meet the Teacher, September 16th

For our Back to School Night event, we will be hosting a virtual Meet the Teacher opportunity on September 16th from 5:30-6pm. You'll have the opportunity to hear from your student's period 1, 2 and 3 teachers. More details will be sent soon.

6th and 7th grade materials distribution

6th and 7th graders are invited to come by BHMS on Monday, 9/14, between 9-11am or 4-6pm to pick up additional supplies.

All 6th graders will receive a math mate curriculum supplement, science materials, a planner and a whiteboard.

All 7th graders will receive a math mate curriculum supplement. (They can pick up their planner and whiteboard if they didn't already receive one).

GT Update

If your student has been designated as Gifted and Talented, please see this letter for an update. Sherri Laber will be working with our students and their ALPs beginning the second quarter.

Need additional support around our daily schedule?

If you would like a more detailed plan for each day, this document was designed by our counselors to help students get organized and complete work each day. This document can be used daily on Tuesdays through Fridays. A separate detailed plan for Mondays will be sent next week.

What should my student do from 8:45-9:15 this week?

If your student needs to complete iReady, they should focus on that during this time. Otherwise, all students should begin to explore Dreambox math and Reading Plus during the 8:45-9:15 time each day. Students can access these programs by logging on to and finding the icon for Dreambox or Reading Plus. For now, have students spend about 20 minutes on one each day. Soon we will send more guidelines about weekly expectations. (Click here for more information about Dreambox math)

Chromebook Problems?

The five steps identified below solve many of the issues you will experience. If these steps do not resolve your issue, call 720-561-HELP.

Next Steps

Restart your device.

With all basic troubleshooting, this should always be step number one. Closing the lid does not shut a device down. Make sure you click “shut down” or “restart” or hold down the power button.

Charge your device. If the device won’t turn on, plug it in to a charger and leave it for 15 minutes. Do not try to restart the device until 15 minutes have passed.

Verify your wireless connection. Check that you are connected to a wireless network.

Update your device operating system. When your Chromebook downloads a software update, at the bottom right, look for the “Update available” notification.

Reset your device. If all else fails and you have a Chromebook, you can reset your device by doing the following:

a. Sign out of your Chromebook

b. Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r

c. Select Restart

d. In the box that appears, select “Powerwash,” then “Continue.”

e. Follow the steps that appear and sign in with your BVSD Google Account

f. Once you’ve reset your Chromebook:

i. Follow the onscreen instructions to set up your Chromebook

ii. Check if the problem is fixed
