Principal Comments
Welcome to the 2020-21 school year. We are excited to have staff and students in the building once again! Staff have spent the summer making sure Washington High School is ready for students. The entire school has been deep cleaned and adjustments have been made that are aimed at protecting the health and safety of our students and staff. WHS remains focused on our mission of developing lifelong learners to succeed in a changing world.
I am excited and honored to be returning to Washington High School as your Principal. For those of you who do not know me, I was math teacher at WHS for 14 years. During those years I taught on the Freshmen Academy, coached volleyball, chaired the Math Department, and was a Senior Class Advisor. Needless to say, I have a lot of love for WHS! This year I will be working alongside three other talented and passionate individuals that make up the admin team: Heidi Jorgenson, Preston Kooima, and Nate Malchow. Heidi Jorgenson is new to the admin team this year, but not new to WHS. She taught English, was part of the Freshmen Academy, served on the School Improvement Team, and was also a Senior Class Advisor.
In the coming week, you will receive a physical mailing outlining important information and dates regarding the start of the school year. An electronic copy of this is also included in this newsletter. Please take the time to read through the information as there have been changes from previous years.
Have a great rest of your summer. Go Warriors!
