Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
What a great day for our students on Monday as they celebrated St Columba Day with the students from St Columba’s Bayswater. Even though there was rain and water everywhere, the students from both schools had a great day. A huge thank you to the P&F for organising the sausage sizzle. It went down really well with students on such a cold and wet day.
Also many thanks to the staff who organised the day. The day ran very, very smoothly,.
Congratulations to our Year Six students who made their Confirmation on Saturday night at St Columba’s Church. The Mass was beautiful and the children involved in the various parts of the Mass read and responded extremely well.
Many thanks to Mr Popadynec and Mrs Robinson for organising.
Given the number of students who have been off sick over the last couple of weeks I would ask that if your child is exhibiting signs of illness that they are kept home to try and avoid passing the illness onto other students and staff.
God Bless
Allen McMahon
Principal
On 8 June, the Year 6's made their Confirmation. The candidates went to the back of the church to get their stoles, necklaces and Confirmation cards. They then had their professional photos taken at the altar. At the start of Mass, the Year 6's took their place at the back of the church and walked in together to their dedicated pews. Then some of the students read their readings, assisted by some Parish candidates. After that, they went up for the renewal of their Baptismal Promises and the Laying of the Hands. The most important part of the ceremony was when the Year 6's walked up with their sponsors to be anointed by Monsignor. Some of the candidates then went up to read the Prayer of the Faithful. Everyone received Communion and Mass was over. The candidates received their certificates and photos were taken. At the end of the evening, they went to the Parish Centre to receive their beautiful cupcake and water. It was a wonderful evening.

Recycling Tip of the Week
Swap your high plastic packaging yogurt containers for a big tub of yoghurt. Decant your serving size into a leak proof container to fit into your lunch box. You are not only minimising the waste but you will be saving money. Buying bulk means a saving to your family.

Thank You to our Parents and Friends
This week Upper Primary classes would like to thank the P&F for the generous support for the the funds to make the purchases as shown below.
Year 4:
Thank you for your generous donations which allow teachers to purchase resources for their classrooms. The Year Four students and teachers are very grateful. This year, the Year Four class has acquired two items: One is a box of connecting shapes, allowing students to use fine-motor skills and creative processes to build structures. The other is the “Oz-Box”, a curriculum-linked reading and comprehension programme that facilitates independent learning. Both items are welcome additions to our classroom.
Year 5:
The children in Year 5 are loving Genius Hour and the ability to collaborate, problem solve and create! With the generosity of the P&F we were able to purchase a whiteboard table and stools. A whiteboard table is a creative way to learn and share ideas, allowing students to communicate visually as well as verbally. Year 5 would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to the P&F. Thank you!
Year 6:
The Year 6 Class would like to thank the P&F for $500 which was used to buy 22 whiteboards and 22 erasers that will be used during Maths sessions, a bluetooth speaker that will be used to listen to audio books, and two stand-up tables that will be used as creative work stations in the classroom. We are looking forward to using these wonderful resources. We are so excited!
