WINTER BREAK
DECEMBER 22 - JANUARY 6
School resumes on Monday, January 7th
Friday, Dec 21
Show your spirit! Holiday colors and hat day is Wednesday, December 19th!
Wednesday, Dec 19th
Wear your holiday colors and a holiday hat if you have it. Let's get in the spirit and have some fun!
FUNDRAISER! CHOCOLATE & BEEF SALES
Permission slips went home last Friday. Please return ASAP if your student wants to participate in our beef and chocolate sale fundraiser. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year! It helps pay for valuable programs and equipment here at Orchard Hill. Return the permission form before we leave for winter break. Chocolate and beef sticks will be handed out after the holiday break by Friday, January 11th.
PARKING LOT CONCERNS
We have had several parents calling the school office regarding frustrations with our parking lot. Please be courteous if you regularly drop off and pick up your student in our parking lot. We ask that all parents follow these rules:
- Drive slowly
- Pull as far forward as possible when dropping off. DO NOT stop at the front doors if you can pull further ahead. It backs up the traffic behind you.
- Have your child be ready to get out quickly so you don't hold up the line.
- If you are walking your child to class, please park in a parking space and not on the curb.
If all parents follow these simple common courtesy types of rules, all students will get to class safely.
If you would like to volunteer to monitor the traffic in the morning from 7:30 - 8 a.m., please call our office at 541-779-1766.
CANNED FOOD DRIVE
Student council will be taking all food donations from December 3rd through 19th as a school-wide service project. All food collected will benefit the families of our Head Start. The class that brings in the most cans will win a prize!
HAPPY SMILES DENTAL PROGRAM
It's that time of year again! Happy Smiles dental program will be here again this year. A purple consent packet will be coming home with your student in January when we return from break. They need to be returned ASAP. The class that returns 80% or more of the Happy Smiles consent packets will be entered to win a class party! Mark YES or NO and return the packet.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
Building good attendance habits start in the home. We want to partner with our families to encourage and support each other to get our students to school and on time. Please stress the importance of school attendance and try to plan appointments and vacations after school hours or during school holidays. Chronic absence — missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence for any reason—excused, and unexcused absences, can translate into third-graders unable to master reading, sixth-graders failing subjects and ninth-graders dropping out of high school. Every Day Counts!!
