Winter Holiday Events: Winter Sing-Along
The Winter Sing-Along is a fun, school wide event to kick off the start of the holiday break. This year, we are excited to have the Forest Hills Student Choir lead the school in this festive event! The choir will also share their talent and hard work with two featured songs.
The sing-along will be on December 21, from 2 to 2:30 pm. If you would like join in the fun, please remember to check in at the front office. We will have check-in clipboards and visitor stickers waiting for you.
Also, please note that there has been a change to the yearlong class party calendar and there is no winter holiday party this year. But don't fret! We'll see you at the Valentine's Day classroom party very soon.
Share Your Holiday Celebrations
The success of this event inspired the front office team to get in on sharing our wonderful holiday traditions. Mr. Shuckerow, Mrs. Milner, and Mrs. Merino would like to invite families to bring in a picture and caption of a winter holiday tradition that is celebrated in your family. The picture can be drawn or an actual photo. Captions can be a description of the tradition or a personal story. The picture and caption should be no larger than a standard sheet of paper, and can be turned in to the front office (no electronic versions).
DirectorySpot has been Updated!
With many thanks to Katie Mygrant, the PTO would like to announce that the school directory has been updated. Everyone should have access through Directory Spot - www.directoryspot.net/, and you can download the app on your phone for convenience. If you need to change any data on the directory, please contact Katie Mygrant.
Time to Get Your Tickets for the Annual Foundation Luncheon
Join us for our biggest community celebration of the year! The Lake Oswego Schools Foundation luncheon is a wonderful opportunity to meet members of our community and support our students. The event sells out every year -- so be sure to purchase your tickets here today! This year's speaker is Debbie Craig, one of our community's biggest champions, a trustee with Meyer Memorial Trust, and a passionate advocate for public education and the outdoors. Also, as an alumna of Lake Oswego High School and a parent of Lakeridge High School alumni, Debbie will have great stories to share.
Special Education Audit Survey, All Parents
The District recently received the Special Education Audit. It is an important document that will help shape the programs and supports provided to students who receive special education services. The parents of SSPAC would like your feedback on the priorities outlined in the document. Please review the audit here and then please take this 15 minute survey here:
The survey is open from November 30 to December 12. If you have questions, please contact Traci Reiner at reinert@loswego.k12.or.us.

Online Registration Coming Next Month!
The District is developing an online registration system that will replace the current paper-based system. We are excited to create a streamlined process for parents to provide student information to our schools. Online registration for the 2019-20 school year will begin the week of January 21, 2019, for new students who have never enrolled in the District before. Be on lookout for updates in The Current and the District's website.
ParentVUE Portal for Elementary Schools
To prepare for the switch to online registration, the District will launch the ParentVUE portal for our elementary schools in early January 2019. This portal allows parents of elementary students to view attendance data and state assessment scores, and will, in the future, allow parents to register new students or verify information for enrolled students.
Parents of elementary students who do not already have an active ParentVUE account will soon receive a letter with an Activation Key and instructions on how to set up their ParentVUE account. Please contact your student's elementary school with questions.
Kindergarten Counts January 23
Lake Oswego School District's Kindergarten Counts will take place Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. at all elementary schools. This event introduces Lake Oswego parents to the full-day kindergarten program and Extended Day program and ensures that new families are connected to their school. All families with a child who will be five years old by September 1, 2019 are encouraged to attend.
This year Kindergarten Counts will coincide with the debut of the District’s new online registration portal. Rather than providing a paper registration form that night, parents will learn about online registration so that they can later enroll their children from home or wherever they access the internet.
Lost and Found (Repeat)
If your child is missing a sweatshirt, coat, or other item, encourage them to make a visit to the Lost and Found, or make a visit yourself. The Lost and Found is located near the library and 1st/2nd grade hallway. As we get closer to winter break, the Lost and Found will be moved to the front entrance for immediate access. Please note that any items remaining after we dismiss for winter break will be donated.
Local Option Levy Community Feedback (Repeat)
If you haven't already, please consider taking the 5-minute Local Option Level Survey. The survey will give the District direction about future programming choices and educational priorities. It will be open until December 15, 2018. You can find more information on the district website.

Celebrate Bryant Elementary
After 52 years of faithful service, Bryant Elementary School will be demolished to make way for the new Lakeridge Junior High. Join us for an ice cream social to celebrate the student and staff who made Bryant Elementary such a special place. Memorabilia and yearbooks from decades past will be available to view. A short speaking program will be held at 3:00pm.
Many past students have artwork installed throughout the Bryant campus, including tiles, mosaics, and murals. LOSD is working with the Arts Council of Lake Oswego to document this art. Past students are invited to come take pictures of their own tiles and share memories of their times at Bryant. Pictures can be sent to this Google Photos Album.
