P.E.The Instructional vision of Richmond Public Schools' Health & Physical Education department is to offer a sequential K-12, standards-based health and physical education program and to actively promote lifelong learning through physical activity, exercise, & sport while supporting students in making health-conscious decisions, meeting challenges, and participating in social and mental positive behaviors. And don’t forget to come join us on March 22nd at MLK middle school for our fundraiser basketball game. Doors open at 5:30 pm and game time is @6 pm! | Art We've just finished the district wide Fine Arts Festival! Congrats to all of the students whose work was shown, as well as two of our students who won Special Recognition ribbons from the Visual Arts Center; Angel H. in 5th grade, and Morella S. in 4th! From now until spring break, students will prepare work for our annual ChimboChella silent art auction, as well as creating a community "garden" with recycled materials. They'll be studying native Shenandoah wildflowers and practicing observational drawing before turning their drawings into a pop-up cardboard garden, inspired by the work of Barbara Gilhooly. | MusicHello everyone and happy Music in our Schools Month! We recently celebrated our wonderful musicians at the Fine Arts Festival at Huguenot High School, where we had choir, harp, band, and orchestra performances. We are continuing to move through March by learning about things such as dynamics, tone, and pitch, as well as celebrating the contributions to music by women.
Also, our next spring concert, also known as Chimbochella, is planned to happen on May 11th from 5-7pm. Mark it on your calendars now! |
