The Points of Pride
March 30, 2018
Instructional Focus:
As I was doing some professional reading about behaviors over spring break, I
began to think about student autonomy. We talk a lot about teacher autonomy and
the “art” of teaching, but do we give our students enough autonomy over their
education? Do they get to drive the outcome of the most recent project you have given
them or be part of the selection process for the next report?
Consider more student autonomy and intrinsic motivation will naturally
follow…student motivation is definitely an area of focus during fourth quarter, as we look keep students engaged.

#RedforEd
- Ensure that we are not using district resources to promote this movement.
- During work hours, contract hours keep support passive (shirts, decorating cars, etc.)
- With students, it's our job to teach them "how to think, not what to think" I had a student asked me why everyone was wearing red on Wednesday, and I said it was to support education. I kept if vague and brief.
Again, as it gets more political, we want to ensure that things are done the right way.
