April 15th Addition
From the Principal
April is always one of my favorite months because of all the excitement in the air with spring sports, dance recitals, plays, getting to spend time with friends and family, and of course enjoying the beautiful weather!
This week we are all very excited for our Spring Concert which will take place on Wednesday the 17th 7pm at Brownell Middle School. Please make sure the students are in their classrooms at Brownell no later then 6:45pm. We look forward to seeing our Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 4th and 4/5 choir perform. We look forward to seeing you all Wednesday!
Speaking of things to look forward to another wonderful event coming up is FIELD DAY!!! Our Field Day is scheduled for May 29th. This day has always been a great success because of our amazing Monteith community that helps make this day possible. In this newsletter you will find opportunities to be a part of this amazing day!!! Volunteer forms will be sent home next week!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Keelean

Mark your Calendars: Field Day May 29th
Field day at Monteith is an annual special event designed for students as a celebration of
another wonderful school year coming to an end at Monteith. This event will include about 30 different activities for all of our Monteith students. There is a great need for volunteers! Please try to set this date aside if you can help. If you or an adult relative would be available to volunteer please watch for this flyer to come home with your child and return the bottom portion to the office or your child’s teacher.

PTO News
Monteith Families,
The Monteith PTO has been working hard throughout the year to make sure the smaller but often important things around our school have been taken care of. Without the tremendous support of our members/parents the school environment would be quite different than it is. For many years now, the district has been cutting things while balancing the budget. These things often did not directly have an impact on our children but they do have an impact on staff and the building itself. Over the years our PTO has steadily increased the teacher reimbursements we are able to hand out. This year we offered teachers nearly $300 each to enhance their classrooms. They can use it however they see fit and submit the PTO their receipts. Almost every single one of them took advantage of it. Things like new books, headphones, construction paper, software, colored pencils, science experiment materials etc were some of the things purchased.
Another thing we are pretty excited about is our new Chrome Books. Until this year our kids were not able to take the M-STEP test in their own classrooms. Instead they would reserve large blocks of time in our computer lab (the children are able to take as long as they want to complete this test). This year the Monteith community donated enough money for us to purchase two additional Chrome Book carts. The 5th grade teachers tell us the students were finally able to take the test in their own classrooms this year and it made a big difference. The students were much more comfortable, and it allowed for others in the building to continue using our computer lab. Its these little things that make a big difference that we all should be proud of. We are told these Chrome Books are getting used all the time!
Of course there are many other projects we take part in over the year, and I have touched on some before, but I wanted to touch on the ones making a big impact right now. We take great pride in working together to enhance our school community wherever we can. Please Join us at the Rustic Cabins for our 2nd annual Parents Night Out from 7pm-until close, Saturday April 27th. This event is FREE, and includes last years smash hit…… Celebrity teacher bartenders! Rustic Cabins is allowing us to keep all the tips that our celebrity bartenders earn and there will be the coveted parking spot raffle (yes I will be very sad to hand this spot over to someone else next year ☹). The goal is just to get everyone out in a casual environment and have a fun relaxed evening. So stop in, or stay for a few hours. It was a huge hit last year and I hope it will be again.
