Titan Staff News
Week of October 5
Titans,
THANK YOU all for a rocking first grading period! Our instruction is student-focused and our PLCs are focused on increasing our instructional effectiveness. As I spend time walking through classrooms, hearing your dialogue in PLCs and seeing the tasks our students are producing, I am incredibly proud of the work you are doing. I would love to wave my magic wand and have you all spend some time seeing what I see as I walk the building. You all are an incredibly talented staff and I am honored to work alongside you.
Please take some time and enjoy the cooler weather this weekend. You've earned a bit of celebration and relaxation.
See you all Monday,
Kim

Important Information
- Be sure to read the email from Gatlin regarding the discipline plan for our 2nd six weeks. The link for the parent notification emails will be inactivated as of Friday and a new link is needed for this six weeks.
- To be in compliance with Chapter 37 (discipline) updates, we are forming a standing committee to be used in the event a teacher requested a formal Chapter 37 removal of a student. Please use the following link to nominate two teachers. The committee is in need of two staff members nominated by colleagues and one alternate. Nomination Form
- Please remember that you have a student who fails your course for the grading period, you are required to make parent contact prior to the report card going home. Please retain documentation of this contact in the event your PDAS appraiser requests to view it.
- The NISD Student Code of Conduct outlines the requirements for parents in the event they request to visit a classroom. If a parent requests to sit in class, please direct them to your grade level administrator for scheduling and approval.
- How have you encouraged your adopted AVID student lately?
Highlight on NISD Superintendent Goals
This past week the NISD Board of Trustees approved Dr. Rue's Superintendent Goals for the coming school years. One of those goals is to increase % of students taking at least one PAP course to 80% across all grade levels. Here at Tidwell, we are very close to meeting that goal already. Our numbers are as follows:
6th Grade - 69%
7th Grade - 79%
8th Grade - 79%
The counselors and administrative team will be working through a process to identify potentially successful students to move into a PAP course next week. Please be thinking of students who you feel would benefit from such a course. I encourage you to take a moment to read through the following article regarding the open invitation for advanced courses.
