The Grizzette
Week of August 29th - September 2nd
College, Career, and Military Readiness Wise Wednesday
On August 31st, we will be kicking off Wise Wednesday, our weekly focus on College, Career, and Military Readiness. We invite students to wear clothing that represents your child's interests and future careers to kick off Wise Wednesday. We encourage them to continue wearing college and career shirts each Wednesday throughout the school year.
In preparation for our Wise Wednesday Kickoff, We invite your student to record a short video clip on FlipGrid that completes this sentence stem, " When I grow up I want to be __________ because I like___________." You must log in with Microsoft, Google, or create a Flipgrid Account. This clip will be shown during Den Time the day of our kickoff. VIdeos must be submitted by August 30th in order to be shown during Den Time. We can't wait to learn about our Grizzlies' likes, dreams and future goals.
Automated Attendance Emails to Resume Wednesday, August 24th
Humble ISD has technology in place to help keep parents informed about their children’s school attendance. Beginning Wednesday, August 24, the district will resume sending automated notifications by email to parents when an unexcused absence occurs. The emails will come from the address HumbleISD_Connect@humbleisd.net.
To avoid absences being marked as unexcused, parents of both virtual and in-person learners must notify the school that their child is absent. Parental consent for the absence makes it excused. Parents must provide the parent note to the campus within 48 hours of the student’s return to school. TEA has requirements in place regarding attendance procedures that schools must follow.
If your child is absent, please:
- Visit humbleisd.net/attendancecontacts and submit the online absence form for your child’s campus;
- Or, email the campus attendance office about the absence;
- Or, send a parent note with the student about the absence;
- Or call or fax in a message to the campus.
Working in partnership, we ensure that parents are informed when their child has an unexcused absence so that parents can check on their children or send a note within 48 hours to have the absence marked excused.
