Haskin Elementary March 2021
"Where Learning is out of this world"
Dawn Greenacre, Principal
At Haskin, we are "Learning Today, Shaping Tomorrow!"
March 2021
Can you believe it is already March?!?! I am not sure where February went. It was certainly a busy month for the students and staff.
I am glad to see some sunshine and melting snow! It certainly helps with the winter doldrums! The students, teachers, and staff have been working hard this past month and heading into spring helps bring positive energy to the building. Everyone is learning and growing. It always seems that there is noticeable growth in students during this time and I hope to see that continue throughout the rest of this school year. Keep working with your children. We appreciate it!
We hope you enjoy the newsletter and enjoy the exciting events planned for this month!

National Poison Prevention Week is March 21-27, 2021
If you suspect a poisoning or if you have questions regarding poisoning, call your Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222. When you call this number, you will reach a Poison Control Center covering your area. Poison Control Centers are staffed by specially trained nurses, pharmacists and physicians and are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The call is free and confidential. To learn more about how to help prevent poisonings, visit: poisonhelp.hrsa.gov. Almost 90% of the public who call a local Poison Control Center get the help they need over the telephone without having to go to a doctor or the hospital.
Poison Prevention Tips:
• Make sure all potential poisons are out of the sight and reach of children
• Keep medicines and household products in their original containers with original labels
• Always read labels before using medicines, cleaners, and other products
• Teach children to ask first before eating or drinking anything
• Never call medicine "candy" or make a game out of taking it

Haskin Kindergarteners Celebrate 100 Days of School
Second grade completed a snowman project using foam pieces and creating a wintry background for our hallway. They just love creating from their imaginations! I think their wintry creations are coming alive with this perpetual snowglobe we are stuck in! They have also been working in their Reading Response journal from Marching with Aunt Susan (Susan B. Anthony).
