Claxton needs Test Proctors for the EOGs!
We need your help…
EOG Test Proctors Needed!
Proctors are the "silent monitors" who will alert the test administrator (the teacher) of anything that deviates from the testing procedures. Test proctors are vital resources for helping our school ensure the integrity of the testing process.
Please click below to sign up, this volunteer time is crucial to our students' success!
1. Click here to sign up for a 45 minute training and let Mary Nichols (Claxton AP and Testing Coordinator) know when you could be available to proctor. You’ll get more information by clicking on the link.
2. Click here to start on your background check (all proctors must have a background check through Asheville City Schools!). If you already have had a background check, please check with Elizabeth Callahan (elizabeth.callahan@acsgmail.net) to confirm.
Thank you!
Race support needed in exchange for $$ for Claxton!
Are you planning to cheer on the participants in this year's Asheville Half Marathon and 10k race? Then sign up to join the Claxton PTO to cheer the athletes on and provide course support in exchange for $1,000 to Claxton Elementary! The Claxton PTO has agreed to provide 25 volunteers in exchange for a $1,000 donation from the Asheville Half Marathon - this is a fun and easy way to support our school! Volunteers will provide basic course support by acting as waterstop staff and course marshals. You have creative license at our water stop - bring and play music, promote Claxton and HAVE FUN!
Spring Scholastic Book Fair Begins tonight!
EOG Test Prep Breakfast for 3rd Grade Families
The Third Grade Team is hosting “What to Expect When You’re Testing”, an End of Grade (EOG) test prep information session and breakfast on Thursday, May 25th from 7:45-8:45 in the Claxton Cafeteria. You and your student are invited to attend. We will be sharing testing strategies, expectations, and best practices for making testing day stress free and successful. Click here for the form to print, fill out and return to your classroom teacher if you would like to attend this important event.
Field Day is around the corner!!!
This year’s Field Day will be held at Memorial Stadium
on Tuesday, June 6. Please be sure your child is dressed appropriately for the day including sunscreen, hat, clothes that can get wet and proper footwear to be in the field.
We can not host such a large event for our entire school without help and support from YOU! Please click here to see descriptions, time requirements and sign up for any of the stations. Volunteers are what make Field Day a favorite for all our students!Spanish Phrase of the Week
As we wind down our school year of learning the Spanish words for numbers, days of the week, months of the year, colors, and classroom items, we're already looking forward to next year, when our conversational skills will continue to grow.
To kick off the conversations, last week we learned
¿Como se llama ...? What is her/his name?
When talking to a friend, old or new, we can ask:
¿Como te llama? What is your name?
And this week, we practice saying:
Me llamo _______.
My name is ________.
What a fun and easy way to practice Spanish—by introducing yourself to new people!
Here's a familiar song to practice with. We bet everyone's getting better at keeping up!
And then there's this video. We're not entirely sure what's going on here, but we are sure it'll make a strong me llamo impression.
