In reading we have practiced identifying the important events of a story and then retelling them in order. This would be a great skill for you to practice at home too. Your child should be able to tell you the important events in order of a movie or the book they are reading. Help them tell only the most important events without too many extra details.
Zero Hour Classes are starting!
New Technology tool in class!
As you may know, the district started providing Go.Tahoma email and apps for education accounts to all students in grades 6 through 12 three years ago. Last year we extended the program to 5th grade students, and after a very successful year, we will now roll out GoTahoma in 5th grade. In addition, 3rd and 4th grade teachers can request to use these tools with their students. I’m excited to start using the apps with my students this week for peer and teacher feedback in reading and writing as well as projects in our integrated unit.
As part of my planning to use these tools with my students, I will be partnering closely with our instructional technology coach to ensure that students learn the important digital citizenship expectations and responsibilities that come with the use of these tools. The GoTahoma Information for Elementary Parents may help you understand the Go.Tahoma Apps and what they will provide students in my classroom.
If you would like to find out more information about the Go.Tahoma Apps and their capabilities in a K-12 education environment, please see http://www.google.com/a/help/intl/en/edu/k12.html. In addition, you’ll find an overview and policy information at our district’s Go.Tahoma website (https://sites.google.com/site/gotahomasd/). Finally, if you have any questions about how I will be using the tools in the classroom, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
