WBHS Update

10/7/22

Principal's Message

Hello Laker Nation,

Thank you to all of you who came out to our WBHS Homecoming Parade, Game, and Dance last week! We had amazing weather and wonderful attendance. The mid-way point of the first marking period is here, and it is our first progress check for student attendance. The marking period ends on 10/31 with grades being posted on or before 11/7. Please remember that this grade averages with second marking period, and with a potential final exam grade to create the final semester grade for credit on January 20. Now is a great time to check in on student grades and attendance in PowerSchool.

Indigenous Peoples' Day is celebrated on the second Monday of October, on October 10 this year, to honor the cultures and histories of the Native American people. The day is centered around reflecting on their tribal roots and the tragic stories that hurt but strengthened their communities, and it also celebrates the cultures, contributions, and resilience of contemporary Native peoples. Click the link below to access the SMORE for additional information and resources.

Indigenous Peoples' Day

Thank you for all of your support this year with attendance and student behaviors! As we enter the colder months, there are a couple of areas we are focusing on. First, it is essential that students are in school regularly and on time. As it becomes darker earlier, and cooler in the mornings, we typically see an increase in the number of students arriving late. Please join us in making prompt arrival and attendance a focus for all. Additionally, students should not be staying after school unless they are in a club, sport, or activity. Students have from 2:23 until 2:45 to get to their supervised area. Students should not be waiting for rides for longer than that, unless they have a supervised activity that they are attending. Any student found in the hallways at 2:45 or later will be subject to disciplinary action. Please help us keep students safe and supervised by making sure they are picked up by 2:45 daily.

If you know of someone who is not receiving communication from us, it may mean they need to update their email address with us in PowerSchool. Please contact Mrs. Tunic, the counseling office administrative assistant, to update your email address. renee.tunic@wbsd.org.

The WBSD Nutrition and Food Services Department has moved to Meal Magic to manage student lunch accounts. If you have not done so already, please visit https://westbloomfield.familyportal.cloud/ in order to manage your child's account for lunch services.

Proud to be a Laker!
