School of Saint Mary FYI
October 21st, 2022
Notes from Mrs. Maricle
1. Uniform Cleanup: It seems many students have become somewhat lax on following our uniform dress code. I have listed the main violations that I have been experiencing. I have told teachers to have the student remove the outerwear or call home to change if they see a violation.
a. Socks are to be a solid navy, black, white or grey unless they are a no show style and we cannot see any of the sock.
b. Sweaters/Sweatshirts/Fleeces MUST be navy. They need to be blank or have the approved SOSM crest on them.
c. Only 8th grade is allowed to wear BKHS or Cascia outerwear.
d. Skirt lengths should be 3 inches from the top of the knee or longer. We are experiencing a significant growth spurt in the middle school so please check all skirt lengths this weekend.
e. Shoes must have a secure back (eg. no crocs). even on free dress days.
2. Picture Retakes: Picture orders went home with students on Wednesday. If you ordered a packet and did not receive it, please check with your student.
Retakes are scheduled for November 7th. If you would like your student to have a retake, please return the picture packet to the office with retake written on it.

Here is a short synopsis of the newest edition of our COVID policy.
- Student is positive – Day 0 is the day the student tests positive (even if asymptomatic) or displays symptoms and Day 1 is the first full day of COVID.
- Parent/Student chooses not to test for early release: The student should isolate at home for 10 days.
- Testing options to return to school on day 8:
- 2 negative antigen tests (1st negative test on day 6, 2nd negative antigen test on day 8 and return to school)
- Negative PCR collected on day 6 and return to school on day 8
- School Exposure – Parents will be notified that there has been a positive case of COVID in the student’s class. No masking or quarantine is necessary, but parents should monitor their child for symptoms and keep them home and test for COVID if symptoms occur.
- Positive Case of COVID in the student’s house, but student is not ill: Student may still come to school, but must try to isolate from the person in the household who is positive and must mask at school for 5 days after the last contact with the positive family member. Day 0 would be the last day the student had contact with the positive family member and Day 1 would be the following day. Please note that the count will begin again if the student is re-exposed.
