Muskego Lakes Family Newsletter

Muskego Lakes Principal
Dear Muskego Lakes Families,
We know that many of you are still enjoying your summer plans, but we are busy getting ready for the start to the 2021-22 school year at Muskego Lakes!
Our classrooms have been cleaned, walls painted, windows washed, student schedules built, new staff hired, supplies ordered, a new field seeded for PE classes, the parking lot resurfaced, and most importantly- a fun first day planned for students! As you know, we have had several students in virtual learning for the last year, so we can hardly wait for our entire school community to be reunited in the coming weeks!
It is also important to us that you know we have seven days of professional learning with staff prior to our students arriving. Those days are full of learning designed to meet the needs of our staff. During those days, we set aside a day and a half for staff to read, hear all about, and then sign off on 504 plans, EL plans, GT plans, and IEPs so we are ready and equipped to meet your child's needs when they arrive on the first day of school!
But we also know that your child may have needs that have emerged this summer that we don't currently know about such as:
- Feeling anxious about returning to school
- Recent loss of a loved one
- Change in a living situation
- Hard time with socialization and/or friends
- Social emotional needs
- Change in the family dynamic
If there is something your child is going through that you'd like us to know about, please reach out. We are here to do whatever it takes to make your child's middle school experience positive. And we want all students to know that while learning is our priority, it is just as important to us that our students know they are loved, understand that they are cared for, and feel they belong at Muskego Lakes.
And while we continue to follow guidance from the Waukesha County Health Department as a District, please know that as your principals, we are here for you should you have questions or concerns regarding the start to the school year.
With love,
Rachel Rydzewski & Nancy Pasch

Pick Up & Drop Off Change for 2021-22 School Year
- 5th & 6th grade students will be picked up and dropped off using the lane in front of the building (indicated by BLUE arrows on the diagram).
- 7th & 8th grade students will be picked up and dropped off using the lane behind the building (indicated by GREEN arrows on the diagram).
- Cars using the lane behind the school will no longer exit onto Hi View Drive using the service drive. Instead, cars will loop around the building and merge with the 5th & 6th grade lane. See the diagram above for the routes. The merge point is circled in RED.
We believe this is a better alternative to only using the pick up / drop off lane in front of the building because it allows our system to maintain a larger capacity for cars..
Forms and Fees for the 2021-22 School Year
As we look ahead to the 21-22 school year, a reminder that all forms and fees can be completed online. This will allow for the greatest flexibility for family schedules as all steps can be completed 24/7 from any location. No need to wait in line, take off early from work or stress about late summer vacation conflicts.
All necessary forms can be completed online with fees paid for via Infinite Campus. Schedules will be released for students and families electronically via Infinite Campus on Tuesday, August 17th. Listed below are live links from information shared in our summer mailing.
New to MLMS or Returning from Virtual Learning?
In addition, we have Cross Country available if your child is interested! The deadline has passed but we are allowing new families to still join! If interested, please reach out to the principal, Rachel Rydzewski, as rachel.rydzewski@muskegonorway.org
Incoming 5th Graders Starting their Middle School Journey
If you’re unable to make it, feel free to come on August 30th from 7-12pm to drop off supplies in your child’s locker & walk his/her schedule. No teachers will be present at this time but it still provides your child the opportunity to once again check out their new school.
6th-8th Graders Locker Set Up & Walk your Schedule
Students & families of our incoming 6th-8th graders are welcome to stop in at Muskego Lakes on Monday, August 23rd from 12-6pm or on Monday, August 30th from 7-12pm if you wish to walk your schedules and/or drop off supplies in their lockers.
After August 17th at 8am, you can access your child's schedule on Infinite Campus and see the assigned locker number as well.
Please note that no school personnel will be available during these times as we will be busy preparing for our students to kick start their year.*This is optional. Your child can bring his/her school supplies on the first day of school.
First Day Heads Up
At Muskego Lakes, we pride ourselves on “Connecting Hearts & Minds Through Acceptance, Empowerment and Achievement” and this means building relationships with our students and promoting unity. Our building leadership team has planned an engaging and exciting first day of school to do just that. Students will be reporting to their homerooms for the first day of school. Students can expect different activities ranging from building our learner profiles, playing games together, to completing an art project, so encourage your child to dress comfortably knowing there will be a range of activities.
Kudos to Our Custodians!
