Our Learning Community...

It has been a busy week! First and foremost, thank you to everyone who came to Back-To-School Night. What a wonderful turn out! It was a joy to see families learning about their child's classroom, exploring the classroom environment, and connecting with each other. We hope you enjoyed the evening!

This week we also had our first Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) day. As a school site, we utilize our Title I funding to purchase the VAPA Arts Education Project (AEP). The San Diego Unified VAPA Department provides specially trained visiting teachers to teach visual and performing arts lessons while teachers in grade-level teams are released for a three-hour block of collaborative time in their Professional Learning Community.

On Thursday morning, UTK & Kindergarten participated in three rotations that included Music, Dance and Theater. In the afternoon, 2nd & 3rd grade participated in the same three as well as a forth rotation of Visual Art.

1st Grade, 4th & 5th Grade will have their first VAPA day on October 12th. Each grade level will have six half day VAPA AEP rotations across the school year. We love creating more VAPA opportunities for our students!
