I would like to take the opportunity to wish all of our families a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday. We are certainly thankful for our amazing students and families!
VETERANS DAY
On Friday, November 10, all Veterans and their families and friends are invited to attend the Veterans Day flag ceremony at the Walker Elementary flag pole at 8:30 am to give our love and heart-felt thanks to all Veterans for their service and their sacrifices to our country.
Fifth grade students have prepared a short program. The flags will be raised by Cub Scout Pack 1035 and Girl Scout Troupe 16272. A short reception will follow in the Walker cafeteria. In case of rain the flag ceremony will be moved into the cafeteria.
Veterans Hearts and Camp Hope - We are still taking your Veteran Hearts and donations of toiletry and cleaning supplies for Camp Hope. Your participation in both of these family/community activities is appreciated.
Boosterthon
On Friday, November 17th we will be having our Annual Boosterthon Fun Run! We will need volunteers to assist with counting students’ laps and to manage the water station. Please consider joining the Boosterthon Core Team and help with each session on November 17. Look for the volunteer RSVP form in your child’s backpack fill out and return to Ms. Grape.
The Fun Run Schedule:
8:30 – 9:40 am Kindergarten, 3rd grade, Morning Pre-K, PPCD
9:45 – 10:55 am 4th grade, 5th grade
12:45 – 1:45 pm Afternoon PK, PPCD and STEP
1:45 – 2:55 pm 1st grade and 2nd grade

FIELD TRIP SCIENCE RESOURCE CENTER - KINDERGARTEN
Attention parents of Kindergarten students: SCIENCE RESOURCE CENTER
On November 14 and 15, Kindergarten students will be going to the Science Resource Center located at the District’s Exhibit Hall on Telge Road. This half day program, called Animal Odyssey, rotates students through a series of stations with hands-on activities that teach students about various animals and their habitat. Volunteers are needed at the SRC to assist with the activities/lessons. Volunteers must be scanned in through the District’s V-Soft program before going to the SRC and must provide their own transportation. District transportation is provided to all students. Students will eat lunch at school either before leaving the school or as soon as they return to school. Permission slips will be sent home prior to the trip. No student will be allowed to attend without the written consent of the parent/guardian as given on the permission slip. If you are interested in volunteering and/or if you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher at 281-345-3200.
FIELD TRIP NATURE TRAILS - 3RD AND 5TH GRADE
Attention third and fifth grade students and parents: NATURE TRAILS
On November 28 and 29, third and fifth grade students will be participating in an off-campus outdoor learning experience at the Milsap Nature Trails. Students will engage in a variety of in-the-field activities that support the learning that is happening in the classroom. Students are required to wear long pants and bring/purchase a sack lunch. Mosquito and sun screen must be applied to the students at home. District transportation is provided to all students. Permission slips will be sent home prior to the trip. Students will not be allowed to attend without the written consent of the parent/guardian as given on the permission slip.
