Good Afternoon, WMMS Families!
Thank you for looking through our weekly updates. There is NO School on Monday, May 30th due to Memorial Day. Have a lovely weekend!
MS Office Staff
Feed My Starving Children
WMMS Student Council wrapped up the school year doing what they do best - giving up their time to help others. They packed 67 boxes of food at Feed My Starving Children in Chanhassen, which equals 14,472 meals! After packing the food, they celebrated their hard work with lunch at Culvers.
Thanks for a great year, Student Council!!
8th grade Mock Trial
One eighth-grade class of Mrs. Hager’s was quite vocal that they wanted to try out a mock trial that they missed last year in Jepma’s class due to Covid. This class was completing the trial as part of their public speaking unit. The case that they studied was Jackie Peifer vs. the state of MN. The verdict the group decided was…Innocent!
6th Grade Field Trip to the Science Museum of Minnesota.
This week was our 6th graders' turn to go to the Science Museum and Omnitheater! They had a great time exploring "Under the Sea!"
Materials due back to the Media Center!
All Media Center books are due back by May 27th! Fines will be assessed next week.
District-owned Chromebooks and chargers will be collected on Wednesday, June 1st. Please make sure your student brings their device and charger to school on Wednesday, June 1st. Teachers have planned field trips or lessons for Thursday and Friday that do not include the use of devices. Fines for unreturned Chromebooks and chargers will be assessed as follows: Chromebooks $240, chargers $40. Thank you for helping your student remember to bring their tech devices to school on Wednesday, June 1st.

There are certain immunizations required for incoming 7th-grade students. Please open and review this letter from the Nurse’s Office so your current 6th grader is ready for next school year! 7th-grade Immunization letter, Spring 2022
Student Expectations When Dismissed From School
Students are dismissed from school at 2:50 p.m. At that time students are expected to leave the school unless they are participating in an afterschool program and supervised by a district employee. Students being picked by a family member should wait at the MS main entrance. Students riding the bus should wait at the entrance to door 6 in the HS. Students are not allowed to loiter on the MS/HS campus after dismissal.
Vision and Hearing
Due to COVID challenges and space limitations, the health office staff will not be conducting routine hearing and vision screening for middle school students during the 21-22 school year. If you have concerns about your student's hearing or vision, please contact MS nurse Kelly Maas at kmaas@wm.k12.mn.us and your student will be screened individually.

If you're planning for your student to be absent from school you may fill this Excused Absence Form out ahead of time. This form can be dropped off at the Middle School Office or emailed to msattendance@wm.k12.mn.us.What to do if your child is ill
Parents need to be the first line of defense in our Health and Safety protocols. As a reminder parents are expected to perform a daily health screening for their children before sending them to school.
