Summer Reading
North Allegheny - Middle School Digital Edition
Importance of Summer Reading
All North Allegheny students are asked to engage in summer reading as a way to acquire vocabulary, solidify reading skills, and further develop a love of reading. Studies have repeatedly proven the importance of summer reading for retaining reading skills. One study by James Kim of the Harvard Graduate School of Education found that reading four to five books over the summer was sufficient to prevent a decline in reading-achievement scores from the spring to the fall.
Summer reading is not required for students in North Allegheny Middle Schools, however, it is strongly encouraged!
Reading Challenge
For each book you read, write a review and when you turn it in you'll receive an entry for a selection of prizes. Submit your reviews by August 31st! You may submit multiple entries.
