40 BOOK CHALLENGE CHECK IN

At the beginning of the school year we challenged all of our students and staff to read at least 40 books during the year. We have continued to encourage independent reading with incentives, conferences, classroom activities, and certificates to readers. For each 10 books read, students were given a "ticket" that could be completed and entered into a drawing for gift cards to local businesses.

On November 8, the end of our 1st semester, we will draw 15 tickets and present the gift certificates to students. We are excited about the great participation and about the enthusiasm students have shown for reading books!

TWO-HOUR WEATHER DELAYED STARTS

If the decision is made by D200 to delay the start of school due to weather, the following will happen:

  • Families will be notified of the delayed start

  • Busses will pick up students 2 hours later than the normally scheduled pickups

  • OES will start the day at 9:40am, doors open at 9:20am

  • We will NOT make up the day at the end of the year

  • All fine arts, lunch, and SpEd support will continue as scheduled

  • Dismissal will be at the normally scheduled time
