HOLY ROSARY NEWSLETTER
Term 1 Week 9 Friday 1 April
FROM MARK
Hi everyone
Lent gives us this opportunity to reflect on where we are and who we are, on our journey.
Welcome home Adventurers! I think the pictures speak for themselves - a huge and memorable four days embraced so enthusiastically by the children of Year Six. To Year Six teachers Pete and Kate, supported by Assistant Principal Tegan, Mike Thacker, Anna Capolingua and Julie Catherall your focus on getting this right for our kids is something we are very grateful for. Congratulations, and thank you!
Also included in today’s newsletter is the link to our fabulous Slice of Life Preprimary ‘Assembly’ (PP Assembly) and pictures of our Merit Award (PP-Year 5 and Year 6 next week) and MJR recipients. What a great day! Next week will see links shared with you for the Edudance Concerts. They should be fantastic.
Thank you for booking a time to have a chat with your child’s teacher this coming Tuesday. This is an important connection to make.
We are swimming next week! Again we are doing things differently, but we are doing them. Many thanks to our P.E. Teacher Rob Flexman for finding ways to make this work.
Enjoy the weekend! Stay well, stay safe.

SCHOOL CALENDAR
COVID CONVERSATION CONTINUED.....
At this moment we know of just one Holy Rosary child affected, with no close contacts at school. So once again, because of you, we have had a good solid week at school. Thank you, thankyou.
Guidelines for next term were announced this week. This was followed up by information from CEWA yesterday. Essentially they will make very little difference to the operations of primary schools. We continue with ‘assemblies’ and merit and MJR awards in their current form. While parents can’t volunteer to assist in class, parent meetings with teachers are OK to be requested as long as children are not in the classroom.
Volunteering to help Leanna can continue. Outdoor drop off and pick up of children, as opposed to outside of school drop off and pick up looks to be OK - as long as all the social distancing and masks expectations are adhered to. On site, we are still requested to keep grades separate in work and play. The layers of complexity at school level are significant, and I am so grateful to our crew who are taking the requirements seriously and adapting smoothly to updates as advised by CEWA/Health/State.
Of course, this is as it is, at the moment. No doubt there are more questions about further possibilities that you may have. Should things be reviewed again we will be back in touch.
The big deal is that our children’s education and experience at our school continues, and continues to be as good as it is. What is taking place in class and at play is truly wonderful to be a part of. I think the ‘Assembly’ videos of Preprimary today (PP Assembly), and of Year Three (Year 3 Assembly)and Year Five (Year 5 Assembly) are testament to that.
Finally, the Chief Medical Officer and Coordinator-General of the National COVID Vaccine Taskforce have requested our assistance with supporting the national vaccine rollout to improve COVID-19 vaccination rates amongst students. Information can be found below:
A reminder to please report any cases of children on the self reporting portal created by CEWA for Catholic schools. (see link below)

LIBRARY NEWS
This week it was PP to year 3’s turn to buy a book from the Project Compassion Second Hand Book Sale. Thank you to everyone for their support over the last 2 weeks so that we can continue to support Project Compassion and encourage a love of reading! Extra special thanks to HR staff for their flexibility, our year 6 Library Monitors and year 5 assistants.
In library we have been watching the year 6’s videos teaching us how to make a paper plane! Our competition is run virtually this year and the winner will be announced early term 2. Together we raised $216.80 for Project Compassion and had a lot of fun!
I am looking to seeing the year 6’s to hear all about their amazing adventure week and have my Library Monitors back to celebrate a wonderful term with them.
Have a great weekend
