Report Cards
NES will be sending 2nd quarter report cards home on Tuesday, January 9. Please look in your child's bag when they arrive home. Also, if you need assistance viewing Progress Book, contact the office for password information.
Fundraiser Incentive Movie
Students who qualified for the coupon book fundraiser incentive "movie with the principals" will watch the movie Finding Dory on Friday, January 12 at 1:30 PM.
College and Career Day
It's never too early to begin talking about college and career readiness. NES will begin having conversations with students through the school counselor in January. We would like families to discuss possible careers that students may be interested at home. Thinking about college and careers helps make school meaningful and relevant for students. On January 25, students will have the opportunity to do a gallery walk through the cafeteria to view career education opportunities offered through the 4 city compact.
MAP Testing
All students in grades 1-3 will be completing MAP testing in reading and math in January. Winter testing allows the school to monitor student growth, evaluate scores to differentiate lessons, and communicate student performance with parents. Please ask to see your child's MAP score and ask about growth information. MAP scores for 3rd graders may be used as a qualifying score in regards to the Third Grade Reading Guarantee.
Cold Weather
As the cold weather approaches, please send your children to school with hats, gloves, boots, and scarves. Students will have outdoor recess any day the temperature is 25 degrees or above. If you are in need of coats, hats, or gloves, please contact the school.
