DLI First Grade Positions
IREAD
This year, we will be "piloting" a new format for our IREAD Club sessions. We are going to embed the intervention into the school day from 2:20-2:40 p.m., by using time already set aside for IREAD prep in the Master Schedule. The instructors will be the 3rd grade team and Randy. We hope to have 80% + passage rate on the first test administration by using this format. Go Shelley, Tom, Kelcie, and Randy!!
Staffing Updates
Mentor Position for 2018-2019
2018 - 2019 school year. This mentor position is not replacing anyone. It is a position that was unfilled this year. If you are interested in this position, please talk with Katrina.
ILT Update
The ILT worked on the "draft" plan of our 90 Day Plan for 2nd semester. We will be continuing this work for the next 2 weeks and then finalize the plan in early February.
We will share the 90 Day Plan and Long Range Plan for Cluster, Mondays, and ILT once all documents are finalized and approved.
Beginning the first week of February, the ILT will be focusing on a three week Unit of Study on developing coaching plans to support students achieving proficiency. Based on student proficiency levels, we will be trying this out with six (6 ) classrooms. Our goal through this process is to increase student achievement. In order to prepare for our work, ILT members will be visiting classrooms to observe student learning.
Next Week and Beyond
Monday 1/15: No School - MLK Day
Tuesday 1/16: Delay Day - We will be meeting in the Library for planning. (Please bring your Backwards Planning materials, curriculum maps, and computers with you.). Before we begin, I will share the district Board and Administrative Goals that were approved on Monday and then you will have time to work with your grade level teams on continuing to deconstruct the standards. News from Central Office
Important Dates for your calendars:
· May 31 and June 1 – District-wide TAP Leadership Team Training. Location: TBD
One of the critical topics requested for further training by masters and administrators has been around the topic of differentiation. It is our plan to bring you two days of intensive training on this topic, along with finalized processes and protocols around MTSS. It is our goal to present new content around how to help all teachers in the universal design of lessons so that all students are successful; this means designing instruction from the beginning that differentiates based upon the needs of all learners. It is our plan to allow ample time for each TLT to develop plans for how to embed this new learning into the school’s plan for professional development, using the structures provided by TAP (i.e., TLT, Cluster, Pre- and Post-conferences, Follow up visits, IGPs, etc.).
· New Teacher Orientation dates for the 2018-19 school year have been set for August 1, 2 & 3. More details will be sent as we approach the end of the school year and hiring begins.
Upcoming important dates/events for January:
· January 8 – Board will be asked to approve wage/salary increases for Classified and Licensed Classified employees. If approved, wage increases will be noticed on the January 26th pay.
· Once the Board approves changes in the support staff wage scales, the HR office will issue the Classified Employee Acknowledgement Worksheets to classified employees.
· The HR office is busy working on the individual teacher contracts. Those will be issued soon.
· By the end of January, W-2 forms will be distributed.
