We are offering FREE flu vaccines for Edmunds Middle School students on Tuesday, January 12 for B day students and Thursday, January 14 for A day students. Flu vaccines will be administered by a member of the UVMMC Primary Pediatrics team. Again, these are free vaccinations and available to all students in our school building.
If you would like your child to receive a free flu vaccine at school, please fill out and sign the form that came home in their backpack on Thursday, January 7th for A day students and today, Friday, January 8 for B day students. Every child who brings back a signed form next Monday or Tuesday will receive a flu vaccine during the scheduled clinic.
Getting a flu vaccine is more important than ever.
While this flu vaccine opportunity is only for students, adults in your family can get flu vaccine shots at any local pharmacy. While getting a flu vaccine will not protect against COVID-19, there are many important benefits, such as:
- Flu vaccines have been shown to reduce the risk of flu illness, hospitalization, and death.
- Getting a flu vaccine can also save healthcare resources for the care of patients with COVID-19.
Please call our school nurse with any questions.
There are some new VDOH pop up test sites. Please only access these pop up clinics if you are asymptomatic. If you have any symptoms, please call your primary care provider office and refrain from going to the pop up clinic to get tested. This is a public health department request, in hopes of keeping symptomatic people from infecting others in the community at the pop up clinics.
