Hawk Happenings

January 11th - 15th

Here's What's Happening at Spring Lake...

We have had a wonderful 2nd term and are now looking forward to term 3. We are excited to welcome new students and many that are returning from remote learning.

Remember that students will have a 4 day weekend. There will be no school for students on Friday, January 14th (district development day) or on Monday, January 18th (Martin Luther King Jr. Day).

If you haven't signed up for a time to come in for SEP Conferences, it's not too late! Sign-up information is included below:

SEP CONFERENCES

SEP CONFERENCES WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 14TH from 3:00-8:30 PM.

We are planning to meet primarily over ZOOM or over the phone if that is more convenient. Please let your child's teacher know if you need to meet with them in person so they can arrange for a safe, socially distanced meeting.

On Friday, January 15th, all unclaimed items will be donated to charity!

Governors Inauguration

As you know, Utah has a new governor!

One of our students, Kylan Herbert (grandson to our outgoing Governor Herbert), was able to attend the inauguration ceremony which was held at the Tuachan Ampitheater in St. George. Kylan told me that it was the first time in history that the inauguration was held outdoors and away from St. Lake City. He also reported that he was the only person under 13 to attend and that the 19 cannon salute sounded amazing as it echoed across the walls of Snow Canyon. Kylan shared some highlights of the event with our students on Friday during the morning announcements.

I am so grateful to live in this great state of Utah and want to publicly thank our outgoing governor, Gary Herbert. Not only have I appreciated his commitment to teachers and education, I truly appreciated his leadership through the pandemic and believe he has always had the best interests of students and teachers at heart. Many thanks to Governor Herbert and a welcome to our new governor, Spencer Cox!

Kylan reported that his favorite part of the inauguration was a performance by David Archuletta and Nathan Pacheco, which I have included below if you have a minute to watch.
