Suwanee Express
Week of February 10th
I hope you had fun playing in the snow this weekend. We even had a little Earthquake in parts of Gwinnett. You never know what you're going to get in GA. :) I want to give a big shout of thanks to all of you for facilitating an awesome tornado protocol last week. You kept our students calm, and the Suwanee team was absolutely amazing!
How are sign-ups going for conferences? If one of your students' parents have not signed up yet, please make sure to reach out to that parent via phone. If you have trouble getting hold of a parent, please let your grade level administrator know.
Thanks for all you do!
Your Proud Principal,
Mary B. Taylor

I put links to the resources in Content on the Landing page in eCLASS. It will be the first thing students see when accessing the page. I have also started taking some old GMAS questions and started building a review game for students in grades 3-5. These are the links on the page that say OODLU links. You can send in questions or content for the drag and drop and I can add it to the games.
Book Fair News
Teachers remember that you will get a 10% discount on all purchases made at the book fair. You will also be able to make a "wish list" for your class library. Please set aside 10 or 15 minutes to drop by and put some slips in the Wish List tree.
You will get a $5 coupon for making a "wish list". If you don't want to use it, please let us know and we will use to buy extra books for the book vending machine.
Please don't send home Scholastic Classroom book orders for the next two weeks. We appreciate your support!

Help Celebrate Black History Month at Suwanee
Do your students want to have a moment to shine on the morning news? We are looking for students at all grade levels to come on the morning news to share their learning as we celebrate Black History Month.
Using your grade level AKS as a guide, choose a significant person or event that you have studied this year in your classroom. Have your students research and write a short blurb to read on the news. Choose a student to come on the news to share what he/she has learned. On the sign-up sheet below, please write in your student name and event or person that will be presented. Mrs. Duncan will make a background slide to have ready for your student on the day he/she comes to share.

We are sooooo excited to welcome the following teachers back to Suwanee starting in the 2020-2021 school year! :)
Medina Kovacevic
Hey, Suwanee! My name is Medina Kovacevic! I have thoroughly enjoyed being home with our sweet Emma this year, but have missed my Suwanee family dearly. I was so blessed to be placed at Suwanee for my student teaching experience in 2015 and have been here ever since.
I am extremely excited to be back and be able collaborate with you all. Being home has given me lots of time to reflect on my years teaching and I am looking forward to being a part all of the incredible work that is STILL taking place at Suwanee and with our kiddos. I absolutely enjoy anything language arts related, reading all kinds of books/articles, cooking, and spending time with family... ESPECIALLY those precious baby snuggles! Please do not be a stranger and I look forward to seeing everyone soon! :)
Ree Aguirre
I am so excited to start my 25th year in Gwinnett County at Suwanee Elementary. In my 24 years in Gwinnett I have taught Spanish to Kindergarten through Fifth grade, First Grade, Second Grade, and Reading Recovery. Of the 24 years I have been in Gwinnett, 18 were spent at Suwanee Elementary. I am so excited to be coming home.
I am married to a wonderful man, Tony. We will celebrate our 29th Wedding Anniversary this year. We have two beautiful children, Taylor (23), a LTJG in the U.S. Coast Guard and Kayla (21) who is attending The University of North Georgia.
How to fill out a check request form
Make sure to include your name, date, who the check should be written out to, where we should deliver the check, what the check is for, your signature and the receipt. Return check request form along with receipt/purchase order to the PTA mailbox in the bistro by March 27th, 2020. Anyone submitting a check request form will get a confirmation email when we receive it. We empty the PTA mailbox at least once per week and checks can be expected back within 10 school days, usually less.
PTA Co-President,

Congratulations to Ronda and the custodian team for a A++ inspection. WOO HOO! Thank you for all you do to keep our school looking beautiful.
Big shout out to our staff doing car rider, bus duty, and walker duty especially this past week with tons of rain, cold, and wind. You braved the elements with a big smile on your face to greet and support our students. THANK YOU! I want you to know we see you and appreciate you so much.
