Courage: It's Not a Lack of Fear
She was told that it wasn't important, simply a figment of her imagination. They told her she was wrong, it wasn't real. Day after day she tried to explain why her worries were valid, but she was shut down at every turn. Why wouldn't they listen? There was no shooting star, no prince to rescue her. The world, she decided, was so deceiving. Fight. It was one word, but it meant so much more than that. So she did, fight. She covered herself in courage and set off to prove to them that she was valid. The next day no one told her she was wrong, no one said that she was invalid, that it was a figment of her imagination. They had seen her shine brighter than the brightest star, and it was then that they had known they were wrong.

Alas
I’d lumber you with my corpse,
One thing that strikes me about this,
Those memoirs.
You seemed so surprised yesterday
But obscure for a moment to know too much,
But alas I hadn’t written those letters,
Your belief in the sterling worth of my moral,
You might have a lover.
It makes me feel as though I have a double somewhere.

Realistic Love
There is a tantalizing piano
Humming in the background
It’s brilliantly shiny black
Reflecting the mere essence of the room
People come
And go
But few notice the key change
Or the ethereal chords played
But I do
The bar is buzzing with nerves
People frantic, anxious
Drowning their sorrows
In what is easily measured and destructive
I sit, observing the atmosphere
Drinking in the environment
I see the man
Dressed in all black
Sitting upon the piano stool
He is solemn, but content
Fully absorbed in the content of which his hands create
His eyebrows furrowed,
Nerves absolved
I study his nature
The way he cocks his head in concentration
The way his hair droops into his eyes
But the music
The music defines it all
Scattered applause as he stands
Eyes searching
For men who aren't half gone
Eyes land on me
They stare, absorbing every emotion
Crisply blue but light to feel
They hold me
The sorrow is gone
Only passion remains
And I, in the midst of it all
Break
