Part 1: Goal Setting
Academic SMART Goal
Measurable: To measure or make sure I will achieve the honour roll, I will make sure I will get an 80% or higher on all assignments and tests to ensure an 80% average. To make sure I have made the honour roll, I will have to wait until the end of the semester to calculate my average and see if I got an 80% average.
Attainable: There are many steps that I will have to take to ensure I will get an 80% average. The first step includes being attentive in class and taking all the notes. The second step includes doing all the homework properly and learning along the way. The third step includes doing all assignment effectively and handing them in on time. The final step includes studying for all tests and being on time for class.
Relevant: This goal is very relevant because it boosts your self morale and helps you feel good like a successful student. By achieving the honour roll, it takes you one step further to becoming successful in life. Also, the honour roll is really important because in the future you need a good average to be accepted into any university or college. By achieving the honour roll, it sets people up people to achieve a good average in the future.
Timely: I hope to meet this goal by the end of the semester when final report cards are distributed. Specifically, I hope to meet this goal by the end of June. This goal began when the semester started and I plan on completing this goal by getting an 80% average.
Volunteering SMART Goal
Measurable: To measure this goal, I will keep track of all the hours I have completed using the volunteering sheet that is provided by guidance. This sheet will track all the hours that I have completed and will help me count all the hours I have left until I am completed the 40 volunteer hours.
Attainable: To make sure this is attainable, I will volunteer two hours a day in the summer for 20 days at the local soccer centre in Brampton. It is better to volunteer in the summer because there is no school. If I volunteer when there is still school, this goal will get me side tracked from my academic goal. Therefore, the first day that there is no school, I will head to the soccer centre and volunteer. Also, children's house league teams do not start until July 1, which means I cannot volunteer until July 1.
Relevant: This goal is very relevant because it necessary to complete this goal in order to graduate high school. Also, this goal will also help me stay resourceful during the two month summer break because I will have nothing to do. It is also very important to finish your hours before grade 11 and 12 because then you should be studying hard and preparing to apply to university.
Timely: I intend to have this goal completed by July 20, 2016. I will start this goal on July 1 and volunteer for 20 straight days at the Brampton soccer centre. I cannot start this goal any sooner because it will interfere with my academic goal and children's house league teams do not start until July 1.
