Principal's Weekly Update
Volume 2 Issue 30: March 7, 2021
Message from Mrs. Aulmer
I hope everyone was able to get out and enjoy some sunshine and fresh air this weekend. Next Sunday, March 14th, we will begin Daylight Savings Time which means we need to SPRING our clocks FORWARD one (1) hour.
On February 18th the board of directors voted for the teachers and students, who opted into in-person instruction, to return to the building. The teachers returned last week and the students who opted into in-person instruction will return to the building on Monday, March 15th. March 15th will be an asynchronous day for all students who are remaining with remote instruction. At this time we are only able to accept the students that opted into in-person instruction into the building. If you want your scholar to come to the building for in-person instruction and you did not opt into it, then you can reach out to your grade level Dean and they will be able to communicate with you about the waitlist option.

Ms. Griffith (3-5): mgriffith@queencitystem.org
For those families who opted into in-person instruction: we are finishing up finalizing our plans and we will share information with you soon on what to expect, protocols, supply lists, etc. For the families who have reached out to see if there is anything they can help us with during this transition we do have a few items on the list. If you can help with any of the below items for our classrooms it would be greatly appreciated:
- Lysol Spray
- Disinfecting wipes
- Hand sanitizer
Items can be dropped off in the main office. You can specify a teacher you would like to receive the donated items or you can add them to our supply closet for those who need them first. Thanks for your help!
This Friday will mark the end of the third marking period. All assignments for this marking period are due by 12 pm (noon) on Wednesday, March 10th. Please check Schoology and encourage your scholars to complete any missing assignments for this marking period. If you have any questions, please reach out to your teachers.
Our school calendar for next year has been approved. Please see a picture and a file to the document below. Please be mindful of the date that school starts. We must have all students present the first day of school. Thank you for your assistance.
Have you had a great experience at QCSS? Is there anything we are doing that you feel is great? If so, could you please take a few minutes to write a review on our Google profile? https://g.page/QueenCitySTEMSchool/review?gm
Thank you for your continued partnership with QCSS as we work to make this a successful year for all of our scholars! I hope everyone continues to stay safe and healthy.

In December of 2020, a survey was sent out to families asking for them to respond to some questions about the Climate and Culture at QCSS. We had 100 families at the elementary school respond to the survey. The staff looked over the responses and created the presentation below. Please take a few minutes to look over what our families responses were. The team at QCSS will continue to revisit this data to improve our processes at QCSS.
