Parent News - Desplazarse hacia abajo para Español
We are now over halfway through the first quarter of this school year. That's hard to believe, I know. Fortunately, our teachers are getting better everyday at teaching from home. We appreciate your support as we settle into this new way of doing school. Of course, we would much rather be in person, but that is out of our control right now. As we get guidance on when and how to begin reopening to in-person learning, we will send you A LOT of communication about what to expect. While we wait for that wonderful opportunity, we are thankful for your help with getting our students into their classes everyday and checking on ParentVue and with your advisory teacher to make sure that your student is completing work and being successful.
We will be organizing parent-teacher conferences on the evenings of November 10th and November 12th. Each family will get an update from their advisory teacher. If a conference is needed, or if the parent requests a conference, we will schedule a virtual meeting or phone call during those evening times.
Even though we are in Distance Learning, we are trying to provide lots of ways for kids to connect to school and clubs. Here is a current list of what we have put together (with more on the way).
We are so happy to introduce Isabel Ramirez as our new Family Outreach Liaison. She is here to help you connect to our school and to help you with any resources you may need. Her email is ramirezi@hsd.k12.or.us and her phone number you can use to call or text is 971-208-7307. She is looking forward to getting to know you!

Upcoming Dates
Friday, October 23rd is wear pink day! Students should wear pink and they can enter into prizes if they are wearing pink during advisory for Pink Out activity brought by our leadership students.
Tuesday, October 27th, we will have a principal chat for anyone that wants to come say hi or ask questions and to meet Ms. Ramirez. We'll start at 3:30 in English and switch to Spanish at 4:00. Here is the link: October Principal Chat.
Thursday, October 29th, we will have a time for Spanish-speaking families to meet with Hilhi and South Meadows administrators to go over community goals, needs, and suggestions. This meeting will be at 7:00. Here's the link: Hilhi & SMMS Cafe Virtual con los Directores.
November 5th is the last day of the first quarter.
November 6th is a no-school day so teachers can complete grading.
Advisory teachers will be contacting families with updates on their students' progress. Some families will be invited to virtual meetings to create a success plan (as needed) for parent-teacher conferences. We'll be holding these meetings the evenings of November 10th and November 12th. Every parent will receive communication, but formal meetings will only be held as needed or as requested by parents with their advisory teachers.
Wednesday, November 11th, is Veteran's Day and there will be no school.
Thursday, November 12th, is a school day; however, there will be no live classes that day. Students will only work on asynchronous assignments. They will need to sign in for attendance since it is officially a student school day and they will have new assignments and material to work on. Teachers will be using that time to review grades and provide feedback to students and families.
Please bring back any books from last year any day you can. Thanks for your help bringing back these items, even if they are from your elementary school. We'll take them!
The district will keep everyone appraised about our possible approach to coming back to school in person based on COVID-19 case numbers and guidance from the state office of education. At this time, we still do not meet the metrics for returning to school. Check the HSD website for more information.
