Why do we eat?
We eat to obtain energy to support our activities we do throughout the day (practice,school,homework etc).
What is nutrition?
Nutrition is the study of how humans get the the nutrients we need to survive.
Where do nutrients come from?
Nutrients come from plants. Plants convert solar energy to chemical energy(glucose), which is turned into nutrients.
Why do we need nutrients?
Nutrients are fuel that allows our body to move and grow in a healthy way.
What are essential nutrients?
Essential nutrients are nutrients our bodies' need to live but do not produce so we have to eat them to get them.
What are the six types of nutrients?
Carbohydrates, Fats, Proteins, Vitamins, Minerals and Water. Carbohydrates, Fats and Proteins are macronutrients which provide the body with energy. Vitamins, Minerals and Water are micronutrients that do not provide the body with energy but they support the regulation and control of body functions and can provide the body with structural materials for maintenance and tissue repair.
What are macronutrients?
Nutrients like carbohydrates, fats, and proteins which are a big deal because they are the body's main source of energy.
What is a calorie?
A calorie is a measure of the amount of energy a food provides to the body.
What happens if you eat more calories than your body uses up during the day?
If you eat more calories than you use, those calories will be stored as fat
What are micronutrients?
Nutrients like vitamins, minerals, and water that support the regulation and control of body functions and can provide the body with structural materials for maintenance and tissue repair.
What is the most important nutrient for a healthy body?
The most important nutrient for a healthy body is water because in the end your body needs water the most to function well
