Artist in Residence for Fifth Grade on Dec 17 and Dec 19
Darrin Crow is a Professional Storyteller/Workshop Presenter from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His residency, Constellation Stories, will connect students to the mythology stories related to the names of the constellations. Students will learn about story structure and learn how to develop a story with a beginning, middle, and end that includes progression through events and rising action. Working in small groups, students will create their own stories about the constellations and use shadow puppetry to tell the stories they have created.
Thanks to the generosity of M.C. Ginsberg, there is no cost to your school for this program. We are grateful to the ICCSD Foundation for its work to ensure that we can offer this program at no charge to the schools.

Message from the Foundation…
The Foundation covers 100% of the costs for programs, events and experiences for our students at every grade level. Soon, you will be receiving a mailing from the Foundation. We want you to know that, when you give to the Foundation, you are directly reaching the families and children in your school –including your own children.
KinderTales, the Visiting Author program, Symphony Goes to School, School of the Wild, LiveArts@Hancher, Robotics clubs, AVID, Lexia & Dreambox and more…are examples of the kinds of programs provided to students in the District at no cost to the individual buildings or PTO/PTA’s. If you are able, please consider supporting the effort. As we know, if we all could give a little, it would make a huge and lasting impact on every student that calls this District home.
Sincerely,
Susan Brennan

New School Boundaries for 2019-2020
In addition, the District’s Attendance Area Look-Up links have been updated to reflect the approved boundary changes. The Attendance Area Look-Up links provide school information specific for your home address. The links can be found on the District website at the following link: www.IowaCitySchools.org/AttendanceAreaLookUp.
Junior high and high school students may also be impacted by these changes. Please be sure to check the Attendance Area Look-Up link above to determine if changes to the elementary boundaries have affected your student.
