From the Counselor
I MATTER!
The Colorado Office of Behavioral Health launches historic I Matter Program.
I want to understand my feelings because I matter!
If you’ve ever said, ”I’m struggling. I want help,“ you are in the right place. The purpose of I Matter is to promote youth emotional and mental health. To begin, you will need to take a survey. Try to be honest as possible: your answers are completely confidential and will help match you with a clinician who can best support you. No matter your responses, you will be eligible for 3 free counseling sessions.
Parents, if you feel your child is struggling and needs help, you are in the right place to talk to a mental health professional for free. Seeking support for your child is not a sign of failure—it’s a sign of strength.
Get started below at the following link.
Sports Survey
Mancos Playoff Game - Dayspring Christian
You will be able to watch the football game live on the NFHS Network for the game Saturday at Noon.
Sports - Basketball and Wrestling
Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball and Wrestling practice will begin on Monday, November 15th after school. You must have a current physical on file to start practice. The $40.00 sports fee must also be paid to Destri in the front office.
From the Nurse - Vaccination Clinic
SATURDAY
Very excited for the vaccination clinic coming to the school on Nov. 13th, 10-5pm.
It is not required to register in advance, but you may do so at mobile vaccination clinics, then book an appointment, locate the Mancos site and choose a time. Children’s covid-19 vaccination, first time covid vaccination for 12 years and older, booster shots, as well as the flu shot ,will be provided. It is open to the community so spread the news.
As required yearly, I am reviewing each student’s vaccination record. If the school does not have an up to date record, please be sure that we receive one soon. Also, if your child is exempt from vaccinations, the school is required, by law, to have an exemption form. Please be aware that there are new state laws regarding exemption status.
The Colorado Department of Health has also sent out an alert that Colorado is experiencing a rise in chicken pox cases and outbreaks in schools and day care centers. Here is more information.
Freshman Class Fundraiser
The freshmen class is selling laser cut wooden holiday ornaments as a class fundraiser. These can be purchased in any of the available standard shapes for $3 or premium ornaments for $5. Any ornament can be customized with text for an additional $2. The order form below can be dropped off at either the elementary, middle, or high school office along with your payment. Any checks should be payable to Mancos Schools. For your convenience, printed forms are also available at each school office.
Cafeteria
P EBT cards were sent out this week. Many are asking what these cards are and why you might have received one in your child’s name. As I mentioned before, when you apply for free and reduced meals, you may be eligible to receive PEBT benefits. If you have received this card, your household qualified for extra benefits that were intended to supplement families for meals on days that school is not in session during the pandemic. This includes weekends. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
If you have any questions please contact me at 970-533-7745 or jfogel@mancosre6.edu
