Ott's Outlook
November 2021
November 2, 2021, is an important day for our school district as this is when our community will cast the final vote on the proposed bond election. Over the last three years Temple ISD has lowered the tax rate by 16.5ï¿ and the last time we asked the community to support a bond was in 2015.
From the very beginning of this Bond 2021 process, our goal has been to engage the community in a bond process that was transparent, inclusive and collaborative. We believe our bond process has checked these boxes. The potential projects outlined in this bond will support safety and security measures, equity in programs, building renovations, and a new elementary school that will welcome new families due to growth.
As I have said many times, the job of the community is to set the expectations for their school system. The community did this through project rankings and bond package selection. In fact, the final bond proposal was made by a group of citizens to our Board of Trustees.
The graphics below outline the two propositions and the projects included. I ask that you use these resources and any other materials available on our Bond 2021 website to make an informed decision when you cast your vote tomorrow. To those of you who voted early, thank you for exercising your right to vote!
Once again, I want to thank you for your continued support of TISD staff, students and families. Together we are better!

This award recognizes those who go above and beyond expectations to serve a cause greater than themselves.
At the October Board Meeting, we recognized THS Staff Member Matt Corley as the recipient of this award.
Matt has been a soccer coach and a teacher at THS for 19 years. While he excels both in the classroom and on the field, his time spent above and beyond those roles is what sets him apart.
Matt and his students have taken on the task of operating the videoboard system at THS this year. They produce content, provide video footage and program the graphics that we all enjoy so much on Friday nights and even on Thursdays sometimes for JV events. In addition, his players walk the stands and clean up trash in the stadium after each Thursday and Friday night home game. You probably also see Matt at just about every THS event where he can be found taking pictures for the annual school yearbook.
