Final JPS Week Ahead for Parents

Week of June 24 - 28, 2019

Big picture

Happy Summer to our Jayhawk Families!

Well, we don't know about you, but we can't believe that the end of the school year is here already. Each day, students have been challenged to learn new skills, think critically and creatively and to collaborate to solve problems. We have been amazed by their curiosity, willingness to take risks and hard work. Students have persevered through challenges and shown initiative to get involved in many areas – academics, athletics, the arts and by being thoughtful, caring citizens in our school community. There are many successes to celebrate! We are very proud of our students!

This year has been full of exciting opportunities from amazing field trips, Battle of the Bands, school spirit days and assemblies, cardboard challenge, Flex Fridays, Global Play Day, Cafe Francais, Jump Rope for Heart, Free Throw and we even made it snow in the gym during "Snow Biz"!

We say good-bye to our beloved Mrs. Marnie Norman who has been our planning time teacher this year, teaching every single student in our school. She has been such a wonderful addition to our school, we will miss her very much. Our fabulous Mr. Gallagher is going on a year leave to do some exciting things, but we'll see him back the following year. We're welcoming Mrs. Ewart, who will be doing our Kindergarten planning time. Mrs. Ewart has done some long term occasional teaching here at Joyceville, so she is very familiar with our students and school, she'll be a great addition! We are so fortunate to have an amazing support staff who go above and beyond every day. We are hoping to see Pam, Ms. M-K and Caitlin back in the fall!

We’d like to give some shout-outs to our amazing Parent Council who have worked tirelessly for our students, organizing our annual Corn Roast, Christmas turkey dinner, Movie Night, our Country Fair, and just this past week, providing hot dogs and ice cream to our entire school. Through their fundraising, we've had new recess equipment in the fall and spring, special opportunities for students through their "per student" funding, top up donations to school initiatives (Flex Fridays, Kenya Help), and help with funding our new woodworking cart, just to name a few! We are so appreciative of all your support.

Here is the what we currently have for 2019-20 class organization. Please be reminded that we cannot take any more classroom requests, as parents were provided the month of May to send any requests in.

Future Fundraising

Our Gr. 7 & 8 students next year will be going on a three-day trip to Quebec City as part of their French programming. To help off-set the cost, we will be fundraising next year through Our team code is JYRJZ6. As most of us do online shopping, all we have to do is log in through flipgive and then follow their links to amazon, etc. Each purchase will return a small percentage back to our school (with no cost to you!), plus it costs us nothing extra to raise funds, just a couple of extra clicks! The whole school community is being given this link and you are encouraged to share it with your friends and family.

All funds raised will go directly to offsetting the cost of this trip for JPS students.

Thank you for your assistance.

If you have any questions regarding this trip please don’t hesitate to contact M. Fleet at the school or send him an email at
