ALTA VISTA NEWS
Attendance
This year, we have seen an increasing number of student absences. This trend is particularly concerning due to the impact on student learning and success. Here are two statistics shared by the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office:
- First graders with nine or more absences are twice as likely to drop out of high school.
- 21% of third graders who do not read at grade level will not graduate from high school.
Please make your child's attendance a priority during the remaining 26 days of school. You will be investing in their future. Be sure to watch the short video below for more information from the District Attorney's Office

What is your favorite thing about Alta Vista?
I feel so welcomed and get such a good vibe from everyone whom I meet here. Iām so fortunate to start my teaching and grateful for my two daughters to spend time in Alta Vista.
Tell us about your family.
I have my best friend, husband and two lovely daughters. Both of my daughters are going to school in the Union School district. We're avid skiers so we spend most of the winter season in Lake Tahoe. And, we love to explore new places and spend time outdoors.
What do you like to do when you are not at school?
I love outdoor sports and activities, tennis, golf, and strolling around the neighbors. I enjoy playing the piano at home with my daughter's flute accompaniment, volunteering in church, and watching K-Dramas when Iām super tired.
