Notes from the Principal
Hello Edgewood Community,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. My name is Jessica Stein and I will be filling in for Mrs. Boyd during her leave. I will be in the building Monday - Thursday. I look forward to getting to know you and your children.
I have worked in Greenfield for the past 10 years. I taught kindergarten and second grade at Maple Grove Elementary before becoming the District Parent Engagement Coordinator in the fall of 2014.
Over the last few weeks, I have spent time at Edgewood getting to know the building, the school community, and the students. I am really looking forward to working with the wonderful families and students at Edgewood.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or ideas that you have. My e-mail is jstein@greenfield.k12.wi.us.

Guidance Update from Mrs. Michlig
1st graders have learned about problem size and the importance of having a reaction that fits the size of the problem.
2nd grade students have just covered the value of brainstorming to help them solve conflicts.
3rd grade students are learning the importance of positive self-talk and how our Thinking impacts our Feelings, which influences our Actions. Ask your child about the Triangle strategy to help them re-frame a situation or a feeling they are having. This is a new and developing strategy, but one that could help them greatly.
4th graders have just started a unit on diversity. They have participated in an activity which encouraged them to find Common Ground with a classmate. Learning about similarities and differences can help respect and empathy grow.
5th graders continue to dig deeper into conflict resolution skills. We recently discussed that the growth mindset skills they've learned to use doing academics, can also be applied in our relationships.
Please feel free to contact Mrs. Michlig if you would like additional information about any of these concepts!
