Pay attention to what your body is saying...
Welcome back. How is your box breathing and Legs Up the Wall pose going? Are you finding time to practice these techniques?
This week, we are going to reflect on how to reduce stress by doing a body scan meditation. Some of you may remember practicing body scans from Foundations class!
Body scan meditations encourage self-awareness of sensations we might otherwise ignore. When you notice excessive tension in your body, you can consciously relax the muscles in that area. You may not even realize how tense you are until you intentionally bring awareness to your whole body.
All you need is a comfortable, quiet place to sit where you won’t be disturbed. We know that is easier said than done, but do your best, or consider including whoever is distracting you. Try it daily.
We have attached two body scan videos. One is 3 minutes long and the other 5. Give it a try. If you notice any tension or start to get uncomfortable or bored, don’t get frustrated. Accept these feelings as they are and gently refocus on the body scan.
If you find a body scan that you enjoy, please share it with us!
