LEAF Performance
Sunday October 23rd
Amazing Opportunity!
We are excited to announce an upcoming LEAF artist residency and LEAF festival performance opportunity, Sunday, October 23rd. For those who may not know, LEAF is our local Lake Eden Arts Festival, which brings performing artists from around the world to perform and do outreach in area schools and community programs. We will have the good fortune to have West African musician Arouna Diarra spend time teaching our 2nd graders about West African music and culture.
Please mark your calendars: Arouna Diarra will be here at Claxton to work with our 2nd graders for three days around October 19th to prepare them to perform with him at the LEAF festival on Sunday, October 23rd . The festival performance opportunity is limited to the first 40 students whose families sign-up.
Please stay tuned for more information, including Student Registration Forms, which we will be sending home with students next week. There will be a $5.00 student fee (which you may send ASAP) for this experience, which will cover about half the cost of this artist residency. The Claxton PTO and Music Program will be covering the remaining costs.
The first 40 2nd grade students whose families elect to participate in the festival performance will get free family passes for that Sunday, October 23rd . If you have not been to LEAF before, it is a fun-filled, family oriented festival with much to offer, and we encourage you to consider taking part with your student. Festival passes are typically
expensive, so this is an opportunity to experience the festival for a fraction of the usual cost. Please RSVP below.
