October Counseling Update

Bell Field - Ainslee Kroenke

Monthly Attendance Contest

In an effort to improve attendance and decrease tardies, we will be recognizing and celebrating the class that has the best attendance each month. The winning class will be displayed on a poster in the commons, and the students of the winning class will receive cookies donated by Parker's Custom Cookies!

Mrs. Maresh's class had the best attendance for the month of September!

Backpack Program

The Backpack Program is a service provided by the Food Bank of the Heartland. Each week, our building receives 32 food packs for students to take home over the weekend. The intent of the program is to provide food for students who count on school breakfast and lunch may not have other food sources over the weekend.

The students selected to be part of the Backpack Program were selected through a referral process that included the teachers, counselors, and principal. If you know of a student who would benefit from the program and is not currently enrolled in it, please let me know. We currently have 2 open spots available.

The food packs are distributed each week on Friday at 3:00pm. The classroom teachers send their students who are in the program to the office, and the food packs are placed into the students' backpacks.

Staff Recognition

We have an amazing staff at Bell Field! As a way to recognize our wonderful staff members, I have created two bulletin boards. The "Superstar Staff" bulletin board is located in the lounge and features 4-5 staff members at a time. Watch your mailbox for a "Getting to Know My Team" sheet from me. I change the bulletin board every 2 weeks.

The "Staff Shoutouts" bulletin board is located in the office just past the staff mailboxes. This bulletin board is a quick, easy way to recognize each other for the awesome things we see each other do. Jot a couple sentences on a sticky note and stick it up there!

Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week will be celebrated October 26-30. The October classroom counseling lessons all tie into Red Ribbon Week in some way. In addition, students and staff will be invited to participate in fun dress-up days throughout Red Ribbon Week. Other activities will be offered throughout the week to raise awareness of making healthy choices and staying drug-free. Classroom teachers will receive more information in mid-October.

September Classroom Counseling

During the month of September, students participated in various lessons and activities to help identify careers, abilities, and interests.

Individual & Small Group Counseling

If you know of a student who could benefit from individual or small group counseling, please let me know. I am currently organizing small groups to work on conflict resolution. Small group counseling typically takes place over lunch and lunch recess once a week for approximately six weeks.
