Tuesday Times
Havelock North Primary School - 20th September 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora koutou,
This week we welcome our new students Maximillenne and Demi into Room 23. Good on you for making a fantastic start to school girls!
Camps
Well done to our students, parents and teachers for a fantastic effort at camp last week. For some of the groups, a fair degree of resilience was needed as the weather was a typical spring lottery. However, due to Covid postponements in Term 1, it was either take these dates or cancel the camps altogether. Despite these challenges, classes got through most of their activities and judging by the smiling faces on return, certainly benefitted from the experience.
Pounamu Carving
Congratulations to our long-serving Kapa Haka members (three years service) who carved pounamu with Aaron Greaves this week.
Home and School Meeting
The last Home and School Meeting for the term is next Wednesday 28th September @ 7:30 pm in the school staffroom (upstairs). We would love to see you there.
Ballot
The Board agreed to have 30 out-of-zone places available for 2023 and the ballot is now open. The plan for this process is:
- Ballot opened on 19th September
- Close the ballot on 20th October
- Draw the ballot if required on 25th October
- Notify parents by 28th October
Quote of the week
Some people will only love you if you fit into their box
Don't be afraid to disappoint

Have a great week everyone and stay safe if you're travelling over the long weekend.

Positive Behaviour For Learning
Focus for the next few weeks is...
- We respect others' privacy
- We leave it clean and tidy
- We wash our hands
It is important to teach our children the appropriate behaviour in the toilets. Like any behaviour, we can't just expect children to know what to do. This is why we teach our tamariki the expected behaviours in the toilets.

Year 3 Discovery
Last week we started preparing the kumara for the growing season. We planted our tāpapa bed which is a kind of nursery for growing the tupu or shoots (also known as ‘slips’) that will then be planted out in our garden beds. We are also enjoying the fairy garden.
Tukituki Whānau Festival
StockCo Blast in the Park is back for 2022!
After a break in 2021, StockCo Blast in the Park will be lighting up the Village on Friday 11 November. The committee are hard at work planning a fantastic event full of music, fun, food, activities and of course, fireworks!
We are delighted that StockCo are back on board as our major sponsor. To make this the best event yet, we need more support from our business community. We are on the hunt for sponsors who are keen to align their business with this epic community event.
