Elmonica Families

Attendance is Required

Daily school attendance is very important! Attendance is required and regularly monitored. Families will be notified via email, phone call, text, and home visits if students are missing from school, having difficulty participating all day, or not completing school work.

Unfortunately, we were notified Thursday that a technology glitch included student email addresses in recent attendance emails to parents. The glitch has been remedied and should not happen again.

Google Chat / Hangouts

You should have received an email today from the Beaverton School District with an explanation as to why the Google Chat/Hangouts feature has been turned off for students. Student online safety is a big priority.

After School Virtual Recess Trial

Our students have been asking for social ways to connect with each other. Since Google Chat is not the safest option, we are going to try a virtual recess beginning with our 4th and 5th grade students on Monday after school. Students will be informed in class and invited to attend late in the school day on Monday. Virtual Recess will be a lightly structured zoom meeting with school staff supervising conversations in breakout rooms. We will make adjustments as needed and hope to offer virtual after school recess to additional grade levels in the future.

Monthly Student Lunches aka "Birthday Lunch"

Every month I hold a special lunchtime conversation with students. It is organized on a monthly basis and students are invited to participate if their date of birth lands that month. Although we do usually talk about birthday, since it is an important event in many people's lives, lunch conversations are not specifically for that celebration. The purpose is for me to get to know Elmonica students a little better and develop a personal connection with each student.

Our October lunch is Friday, October 23.

K-2 11:10-11:30

3-5 11:35-11:55

To protect our meeting, since our school newsletter is published on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and our school's website, I will send a personal email to parents and teachers with the Zoom meeting link the Wednesday before lunch.

Congratulations! Walk and Roll to School Day Winners!

Beaverton SRTS is happy to announce that Elmonica is a 2nd place Winner for our International Walk + Roll Day! Elmonica won 300 Walk + Roll Pencils, tattoos, and stickers. We will distribute some prizes with our Library Bus and during meal distributions. Nice work! Thank you for supporting Beaverton Safe Routes to School this year!

Learn Right Now! 8 Secrets to Engaged Online Learning for Students with ADHD Learning at home has its benefits — fewer corrective comments from teachers, less bullying, and easier mornings. But online learning is also rife with confusion, overwhelm, and distraction, which all lead to procrastination. Use these strategies to help your child with ADHD get started — and stay motivated — to finish school work.

2021-2022 Full-Time Learning Options Lottery & Admission Information

Beaverton students in grades 6-12 have the opportunity to investigate learning options that best fit their academic needs. Students can choose their neighborhood school or apply to a Learning Options Program. Transportation is provided. Please do some online research on the Learning Options Programs and attend one or more of the virtual open houses.

Applications for the 2021-2022 school year will be available starting October 19.

Current BSD students may apply online using their student ID. All applicants must reside within the Beaverton School District boundaries. Resident students not currently attending a Beaverton school (i.e. homeschool or private school students) will need to complete a paper application available online or at any school office beginning October 19. Applicants who don’t have internet access may complete a paper application. Students may only select one option on their applications. Please give careful consideration to your choice of school. Once an application has been submitted, no changes will be allowed. Raleigh Hills and Springville will only be accepting applications for the 7th and 8th grades.

Applications must be received no later than December 11 at 4:00 p.m.

Important dates, deadlines, and answers to frequently asked questions can be found on the Learning Options webpage.
