First Day of School

Returning students in grades 3 - 12 should bring their CHARGED chromebook with them to school on the first day.

New students and 2nd graders will receive their district issued chromebook during a scheduled time on the campus.

All students, new and returning, should retrieve their new passwords for this year by following these instructions. (NOTE: if you have already done this during the summer, you will not need to do it again)

Make sure that you note the new school times and leave plenty of time to arrive on time.

BACKGROUND

As part of our commitment to transparency, we want to let you know that, like most districts in North Texas and throughout the state, we are experiencing a driver shortage. Prosper ISD is one of the fastest growing school districts in the state. We provided daily transportation to over 6,000 students last year. This year, nearly 10,000 students have already registered for bus services.

IMPACT TO YOUR CHILD

This exponential student growth and underdeveloped infrastructure, coupled with a shortage of drivers, makes the start of school challenging. At the start of school, students will wait longer at the bus stop, may arrive late to school, and arrive later at home in the afternoon. This is not what we want for our students.

WHAT WE ARE DOING

• We have hired more drivers this year than ever before, but we still need additional drivers and monitors.

• We evaluate routes daily to maximize our efficiency and minimize delays.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

• Be patient. During the first few weeks of school, we are making adjustments to our routes. It will get better.

• Communicate with us about any concerns you may have.

• Cooperate with your friends and neighbors to establish car pools to alleviate the strain on buses until we are able to hire more drivers and establish shorter routes.

Please make sure that you leave extra time for arrival and dismissal as lines will be long and take longer than normal as everyone learns new routines.
