Climate Survey π
We invite our parents and families to participate in the annual Pennsylvania School Climate Surveys provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The survey, which will take 15-30 minutes to complete, includes questions about student support, your studentβs social and emotional learning, and school safety, as well as your perceptions of the school environment. By participating in this survey, you will provide valuable insights that we can use to improve the climate and culture in our school.
As you respond to each survey item, please think about your own personal experiences as a parent, caregiver, or guardian with Highland Elementary. If you have multiple children in the District/school, please submit a different survey for each (especially if they've had different experiences at school). Your responses are completely anonymous, and your name or personally identifiable information will not be collected.
2023 Parent Survey Link:
Please complete your survey response(s) by Monday, November 13.
Parent Teacher Conferences π¬
The fall is a great time to hear about all of the amazing things your child has been doing in the beginning of the year. It is also the perfect way to let your child's teacher know about important things that are going on at home or share concerns you have. Highland teachers are very flexible and can do conferences over the phone or on Zoom. However, our most preferred method is in-person, face-to-face. Many of our teachers will be in the building the evening 11/6. Please make sure you reach out to your child's teacher to schedule a conference if you don't already have one scheduled!
PBIS Whole School Reward π
Highland is a recognized Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) school. Part of our PBIS programming includes a menu of reward options for the students. Students utilize STARbucks they earn throughout the year to cash out for the prizes. Each teacher provides different options for their students. We also, as a school, offer periodic rewards to the whole student body. We call these "whole school rewards." These rewards tend to be on a bit of a grander scale, and often are very popular. To opt-in to a whole school reward, students need to cash out twenty STARbucks and have two or less office referrals throughout a designated time period. Our second PBIS reward will be Bingo!
Highland Huddle πΊ
Did you know that Highland has its own News Studio? Under the leadership of Mrs. Bingaman and Mr. Noss, the Highland Huddle News Crew has our daily announcements up and running. The student run announcement crew, that are currently fifth graders, are fully involved in the production of our daily announcements. Each morning, classes view the announcements via our Highland streaming Youtube account. In the late winter/early spring, Mrs. Bingaman and Mr. Noss will be looking for fourth grade students to add to the crew.
Orchard Community Day π
A group of teachers went to Orchard Apartments on Wednesday, October 25 for a fall themed community day. We had so much fun with those who were able to stop in! Keep an eye out for more events in the Orchard Community!
4th grade reminderβ
