Rebellion in Music

We chose to pick music because a lot of songs today are rebellious and go against what society would normally believe in. Several artists also are rebellious against the music industry and things they sing may go against what the music industry believes in.

Take Me to Church

By Hozier

“Take Me to Church” provokes rebellion because society isn’t comfortable with two men in a relationship yet Take me to Church embraces being gay and shows that you should do what you love and not think about what others think of you.

"'We were born sick,' you heard them say it"

"I'll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife"

Same love

By Macklemore and Ryan Lewis ft. Mary Lambert

Because they talk about how they feel like they are gay, but people try to convince them they are not, or tell them it is bad, because people think that being gay is bad. They want to be gay anyway which rebels to what society thinks.

"'Gay' is synonymous with the lesser”

"'Man that's gay' gets dropped on the daily"

Buying groceries,

Buy-buying what you need"
