We are nearing the end of October and our PBIS Crest Challenge. Mrs. Andrews and I have challenged our students to earn 50,000 crests for the month of October. At the time of this publication, we have earned 41,549 crests. Mrs. Andrews and I are excited to dress-up in driveline to celebrate!
Next week, brings some wonderfully fun activities at the K-3 Campus. On Wednesday, we will be celebrating the 50th Day of School with a 1950's Day. We encourage all students to dress like they would have in the 50's. Jeans and white t-shirts are always an option. Students will engage in curriculum activities and top off the day with a Root Beer Float Party!
If students choose to wear costumes, the following guidelines need to be followed.
- Students will need to wear costumes all day. They will not be allowed to change clothes.
- No props may be brought
- No weapons
- No blood or gore
- No face paint
- No costume masks
We look forward to a fun day of learning and celebrating fall.
Thank you for your continued support. It is our true honor to partner with you!
4-8 Campus
To say this week was amazing is an understatement! This week 4th Grade had their annual Midieval Days celebration where we had guest come and teach them everything from hand sewing to different parts of armor. Students had a feast and dressed to match the level of society they studied. Big thank you to our 4th grade team for hosting such a great culminating event for this unit!
Today we had our third house lesson where students learned about the phrase, "strength in numbers" and evaluated how this phrase impacts communities in a positive and negative way. The lesson was tied to the Pixar short film "For the Birds." The Quantum House was the winner for our Quarter 1 House Reward and was able to participate in a chalk war today! To date the 4-8 Campus has earned 194,053 positive behavior points between all of the NVCS Houses! Students are reaching benchmark rewards, getting coold rewards from the crest store, and competing for the title of NVCS House Cup Champions!
Masking
Please make sure you are sending your student with a mask every day next week. We are able to supply one mask to students who need them per day, if they do not keep track of the masks, or it gets ruined, we will ask them to contact you and have you bring a reusable mask.
Water Bottles
Parents, please make sure your student is bringing a water bottle to school with them. Our water fountains are still not open due to sanitation/safety protocols, so it is very important for them to come each day with a waterbottle they can fill at our waterbottle stations.
Halloween Costumes
If students choose to wear costumes, the following guidelines need to be followed.
- Students who arrive in costum should be ready to wear them all day. The less changing the better.
- No props may be brought
- No weapons
- No blood or gore
- No face paint
- No full masks
Have a great weekend!

The Mother of Monterey Canyon
Off the coast of California, deep in the darkest recesses of Monterey Canyon, there is a heroic story being played out, as old as time itself. A mother battles for her brood, predators lurk for food, and one octopus’s desire to see the next generation successfully enter this world shows us what sheer will and determination mean. This true tale is full of great facts and intrigue, to ignite the minds of deep sea explorers, young and old. K- 5, Children's nonfiction, 11”x 8.5” hardcover book.
