THE NED SHOW - FEBRUARY ASSEMBLY
Never give up — understand The Power of YET
Encourage others — spark courage in other people
Do your best® — always be learning and growing
You will soon receive information about how to purchase a NED Show yoyo. Students are asked at the assembly, "Do you want to learn to yo?" It is then explained that a yo-yo can be both a mindset tool and a tangible reminder of NED's message. While learning to yo, children will make mistakes, try again and improve. Purchasing a yoyo is optional and more information about pricing will be sent home next week.
PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES
This information was shared with you through a BlackBoard Connect e-mail from D200:
February parent/teacher conferences will be held for all D200 schools on
Thurs, February 13 from 2:00 - 9:00 PM
Fri, February 14 from 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Students in the dual language program will have additional conference times specific to the teacher/building and these are found in the online scheduling system for the school.
https://woodstockcommunityunitdistrict200.meettheteacher.com
Parents/guardians may schedule their own individual teacher conferences using a web-based appointment system called MEET THE TEACHER. Meet the Teacher allows parents the flexibility to schedule conferences for all of their children at the same time.
If you need assistance with scheduling your child’s conferences, please contact the school office (815-338-0473). There are scheduling kiosks available at each school for you to use as well.
You are a vital partner in the education of your child. Parent/teacher conferences play an integral role in providing feedback regarding your child’s progress as well as formulating individual plans for success. We look forward to seeing you at conferences in February.

SOUPER BOWL - FOOD DONATIONS
Which team will win the 2020 Super Bowl?
Kansas CIty Chiefs VS San Francisco 49er's
Once again this year we will invite students to bring canned/boxed food items to show their support for the Super Bowl teams. We will collect from Jan 27 - Jan 31, and students will place their food items on the table corresponding to their favorite team's helmet. On Friday, the team with the most cans will be declared our SOUPer Bowl winner! Students can vote as many times as they want... each food item is one vote.
On Friday we will box up all of the food and donate it to the food pantry.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR - FEBRUARY 6 - 14

A special thank you to Mrs. Jensen for coordinating this event for Olson. The Book Fair also helps us raise funds for the library to increase our collection of books available for all students and staff.

ACCESS TESTING
All ACCESS Testing will be done between January 27 and February 13.
ACCESS stands for "Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State-to-State for English Language Learners." It's a test that's given to students from kindergarten to grade 12, to assess their progress in learning English. The test is administered by the WIDA Consortium. This act sets forth standards for monitoring a student's journey towards English proficiency. All D200 students who are identified by the Home Language Survey that is part of our registration process are given the ACCESS test annually. This will be done over the next 2 weeks, with all students registered as EL's given the battery of reading, writing, listening, and speaking to assess proficiency in English.
The ACCESS for ELLs test is important because it gives educators and school districts information about a student's progress in English. With this information, especially when the child has been tested since kindergarten, many decisions can be made to help the student's educational growth as much as possible.
